What have you lost, then found?

Inspired by the lost glasses.

Mine was found yesterday. A treasured arts and crafts hammered aluminum serving tray I inherited from my grandparents.

It went missing over two years ago. DH and I have racked our brains, asked everyone we can think of if we left it at their place etc. i have felt really grief stricken and a huge sense of loss.

Yesterday we made homemade pizza. I could not find our pizza pan and lost my cool a bit. DH stepped up and started searching through the cupboard where we keep baking trays. He found the pizza tray of course, but...

Lo and behold, stuck almost sideways at the back was the vintage tray!

Lovely sense of continuity with my long dead grandparents restored.

When I was a child, I was out playing on the open common land near my home. I’d taken my favourite doll, and a lovely (truly, truly naff) plastic handbag full of all her clothes - and I lost the handbag and all its contents in the bracken. I looked for it, but couldn’t find it.

Years later, walking on the common, I found the bag and all the clothes!

@Pinkfluffyunicornsdancing

I've recently found the 3 stone I lost a few years back.

Grin I’ve done a bit of this as well. One of the few things easier to find then to lose.

A necklace, I’ve lost it twice, it’s very sentimental. The first time was the day I moved in with my ex husband. I took it off because I’d had an accident and cut my head open, I took it off when cleaning the blood up. I thought it was gone for good. Then one day almost 3 years to the day I was cleaning out my purse while sat at my desk at work and it fell out. I’d not long broken up from my ex, it was like an omen. The second time was when I moved into my current home, again almost 3 years to the day it turned up in a dresser draw, a draw that we used almost daily & cleared out so many times. I opened it one night just before going to bed and it was just right in front of me, tangled in a charger that had been used so many times in that 3 years. I’ve not taken it off since 😆

My old NDN lost an initialled gold signet ring when gardening in the 80s. He died around 2015 and the house was sold.
About six months after he died I was weeding a pot in our back garden when I unearthed it. Pot had only been there a year or so.
Could only conclude a bird had perhaps picked it up and dropped it, it landed in the pot and was covered over. Either way the son was thrilled to have it.

My DDad once lost his wedding ring in the loos at the Home Office. Turned up in the post as the next person to use them looked at the inscription and realised whom it must belong to!

An ipod. Searched the house on and off for a year. Gave up and then one day found it in the hood of a jacket.

We lived in a haunted house when I was a kid. My parents were measuring up for something, and couldn't find the tape measure. They looked for ages, had a row about who had had it last, and eventually Mum stomped off to do the washing. She stripped the beds, put the sheets in the washing basket, carried it to the washer, put it down, and called out to my Dad 'Found that tape yet?' He called back 'No!', and when she turned back to the basket, the tape was sitting on top of the washing in the basket. There is no rational explanation.

The burner thing that you need to be able to light a gas ring one New Year's Eve.

Found eighteen months later frozen on to a bag of long forgotten ice in the outside freezer.

I went to the bookshop early on a day off, excited to buy the book I wanted, and spend aaaaaall morning luxuriously reading it. Got home, made coffee, went to sit down with my book... couldn't find it. Looked EVERYWHERE. Knew it must be in the house because I remembered struggling with the carrier bag when I was getting my keys out to come it. Spent aaaaall morning looking for it. Eventually gave up and took a break for lunch, utterly baffled.

The book was in the fridge.

Not me, but my friend years ago. Lost his wedding ring on a lake beach where he windsurfed. A year later, was sitting on the beach running his hands through the pebbles as he chatted to friends, and the ring appeared!

My great aunt's wedding ring. It went missing mysteriously from my jewellery box years ago. Suddenly one day it was back there but over ten years later.

This week we fitted kitchen cupboard locks which can only be opened by a magnet inside a removable door knob which is stored on the wall. Today I lost it. Husband not impressed. Looked for about 45 minutes until the beef and ale pie was done and then I found the melted knob and magnet attached to the bottom of the baking tray in the oven.. ooops.

A purple dress that my nana had bought dd when she was about 1. It disappeared before dd even had chance to wear it. I searched my nanas house for it, I searched our house for it. Then one morning (the morning of the lady who had lived in our house before us funeral) i heard a strange noise upstairs like stuff falling over, I wemt to investigate and nothing was out of place but it was in the middle of the spare bedroom floor 😬.

DPs fluffy lounging jumper has gone missing. She had it at the start of the year. Weve been searching for weeks and still no sign. We live in a relatively small house- there's not many places for it to hide. 🙄

My car key last year. I had to use the spare. Couldn't find the other one anywhere.

Last week DS sat on the floor in front of the sofa and said "Here's your car key Mum." We've cleaned out under the sofa enough times, so I don't know where it had been. It's now been put away in a drawer.

I lost a sapphire ring in my early twenties, the first proper jewelry given to me by a serious boyfriend so I was devastated. I emptied the bins and looked down the drain etc. but no luck so stopped looking. Months later I found it cleaning the sandwich toaster that had been sitting on the kitchen worksurface, encased in a blob of old crusty cheese near the hinges at the back!

I lost my engagement getting into the car on an Asda car park.
It slipped off my finger and me and my dad were almost lying on the floor looking under cars for it.
Got so upset and eventually went home. Got in, took my boots off and my ring fell out as I pulled them off.
Relief flooded me.

I lost a bath bomb the other week. I had taken it out of a box where it was kept. I ran my bath and went to where I thought it was and couldn't find it.
Well I searched the whole area and more from where I got it and I could not find the bomb. A couple of weeks later I had to have a massive sort out of this area and eventually found it near the bottom, which confuses me as I know I didn't go near there when I originally got it out.

I lost a family antique ring heirloom. Was missing for three years. The day I moved house, the removal guys obviously took all the furniture out, I vacuumed everywhere, even did the dreaded shake and vac! Just before taking the keys to the estate agents, I did one last walk round the house to check everything. Lying right in the middle of my otherwise empty bedroom, where I had cleaned and vacuumed, was the lost ring.

I lost one diamond earring from a pair given to me by my mother for my 25th birthday. I hunted high and low for it knowing that it must be in my flat somewhere.

On the day we moved house, I was taking a last walk through the rooms and it caught my eye, wedged under the skirting board behind where the bedside table had been with just the smallest bit sticking out. I was so relieved.

I once lost a sapphire ring that was a gift for my 21st. I thought that I had put it somewhere when I went on holiday like at the back of a drawer but when I came to find it it wasn’t there.
I tried on and off for a few years and after losing my DM it made me even sadder. Anyway I was randomly tidying the old built in wine rack things in the kitchen where stuff other than wine gets shoved and my hand closed over a ring.
I was so so happy I can’t tell you.
