Husband is refusing to self isolate, help?

What on earth do I do? I can hardly grass him up, can I? Lock him up? No.

Someone I work with has tested positive. Regardless of my own Covid result, I’ve been told not to come back for 14 days since last seeing her. I sent my own test off yesterday because of a slight temp but no sense of smell.

DC is fine. H is fine but that’s not the point. He’s going to work on Monday and thinks it’s ridiculous to stay back. He says he just can’t do the time off, sorry Hmm Doesn’t really help that his big boss is very blasé about Covid and doesn’t think it’s worth letting staff work from home for during the current time’s, even though they can all do their job at home.

H could even do his job at home! But he has lots of meetings in the week, apparently all within the company so can’t do a video chat.

What do I do? I’m really Fed up. I too think the whole thing is a depressing ball of crap but I won’t knowingly infect people.

I’ve just gone through a personal loss so really not in the right place to bollock him properly and demand etc etc

Did you get your result yet?

Tell your husband it’s because of fuckwits like him we are heading to another lock down. If people who are potentially infected isolated as they should we wouldn’t have so many cases

He needs to isolate unless your test comes back negative.

My test came back with 24 hours, when ds had a separate one it was about 36 hours.

I understand your pain though, my dh said similar but then when he read govt website and spoke to his work he realised he had to stay off, he initially did the whole "I cant stay off thing" like he usually does when ill and I say yale the day off! It helped that his workplace were accepting of it and actually arranged ds test.

I really think we're fucked as a nation if selfish fuckwits like the OP's DH carry on like this. What a lowlife he is!

He definitely should be isolating because the OP has symptoms and has taken a test. I’ve no idea what you do though OP other than try and make him see sense - other won’t thank him for bringing it into work. Hopefully you’ll be negative and he won’t have past it on. Do you think he’ll comply if your test is positive? If not he could face a big fine.

This is why the country is having to lock down. People just won't follow the rules so they ruin it for everyone and cause loads of people to lose their income, etc. So selfish.

The op has symptoms so the whole family isolates until she has a negative test result. It's not that hard to understand.

For some it is

Would it help to remind him if your test is positive he will have to isolate and colleagues and track and trace will eventually know he met them on Monday knowing wife was waiting for for a test result.

@GrowYourOwnKids

Show Surely you could’ve just lied?

Well of course. We could break any law and lie about it. The onus is on the individual.

Hes being utterly selfish and is reason numbers are on the rise and nhs will struggle to cope. Hope he gets found out and fined.

@Reedwarbler

If nothing else, this thread illustrates perfectly how poorly the government has communicated information about covid and what to do if you think you've got it!

Or the inability to understand fairly simple guidelines.

It's shocking how many people are unable to read the OP/don't understand the rules regarding self isolation.

He does need to isolate. If he fails to do so, he risks passing on the virus to vulnerable people. Is he always this selfish?

If you get a positive test and he doesn't SI then he's happy to take other people out of work, potentially put them in hospital and expose their families to the same? Surely no one is that selfish and stupid?

@GrowYourOwnKids

How would the track and trace know he isn’t isolating?

They phoned us repeatedly to check where we were and what we were doing. We're on our second isolation and it's only been emails and texts this time.

I think it's a better illustration of a widespread inability to read an OP.

If you get a positive test he legally has to isolate as he will be contacted by test and trace.

If he doesn’t, the T&T can send the police out to enforce.

THE OP HAS SYMPTOMS !!!
Yes, he should isolate.

If you have symptoms he should isolate until you have your results.

If you are positive he has to isolate for 14 days.

If you are negative he doesn't need to isolate.

If you are isolating because someone you work with has tested positive then he doesn't have to.

Apologies I must have missed the bit that states you're waiting for a test result!
Yes, he does need to self isolate
