@BitOfFun

I see a few references to carbonara- do people mean a ready meal? Because I'd count that (and a fair few other suggestions!) from scratch as proper cooking. For me, not cooking means something really quick out of a tin or similar, like Heinz ravioli on toast.

Probably from scratch rather than a ready meal because carbonara is so quick and low effort that it doesn't really count as cooking as you don't need to do any chopping if you use bacon lardons or the mental effort of following a recipe as long as you know how to make it.

Similar for things like an omelette or egg on toast, or spaghetti with butter, parmesan, marmite etc. Add some bagged salad and cherry tomatoes if you feel obliged to eat some veg. Little time or effort available and far nicer than canned ravioli.

My suggestion for the OP would be garlic prawns. Fry some garlic in olive oil and add some large prawns and a bit of smoked paprika. Serve with nice crusty bread to mop up the juices.

Tomato pasta bake - pasta chucked in an oven dish with passata, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, water, and whatever random chopped veg I've got (fresh or frozen does). Stick some cheese and breadcrumbs on the top halfway through. 40 minutes and practically zero effort.

Side note: PIL’s minds were blown recently when I served a pasta a salad with pesto as a thrown together lunch recently. They’d never had pesto!

I’ve gotten really into turkey dinosaurs recently 😳 Hadn’t eaten them for over 20 years and then bought them for DS in the hope that a dinosaur shaped food might encourage him to eat SOMETHING when he was going through a really fussy phase (it worked!)... turns out they are delicious if you don’t think about the health aspect.

Also a big fan of pasta and pesto (basically all I ate as a child). Tuna is our go to but bacon or ham definitely feels like more of a treat.

2 slices of toast - one with beans on and one with scrambled egg on. Takes 5 min and is super satisfying.
Or frozen Mediterranean veg fried in olive oil with some halloumi or chorizo all stuffed in a pitta bread. Takes hardly any time and is delicious!

For the kids: pasta, frozen peas, dairylea and some sort of protein (often frozen chicken nuggets. I pretend it counts)

For me and DP: cereal

All good in our house when I’ve run out of steam.

Omelette or bowl of cereal

But if I need to feed the kids, then pesto pasta or tuna pasta bake.
