Is there any individual more pleased with themselves?

Listening to her show tonight - reading out text after text from people who say she encouraged them to start running / do couch to 5k. Enough now Jo! We know you can run, but come on?

Another one who likes Jo, she seems like a good egg to me, I think she’d be a girls girl and good company on a night out after a few drinks.

@TSSDNCOP is that the best you can do in defence of your behaviour? Says everything I need to know about you.

I thought she was a complete fish out of water on drive time but I quite like half listening to her in the car while driving to/from kids activities. She did get a huge amount of abuse when she was on drive time which was unnecessary but I do think celebs should just get off Twitter if they are getting a ton of abuse from a bunch of pathetic keyboard warriors rather than feeding it by talking about how awful the abuse was. Also, a massive part of the #bekind Caroline Flack think is newspapers desperately trying to deflect attention from their own behaviour onto the public, the CPS, the NHS, Caroline's friends and family, anyone but themselves. They did the same after Princess Diana died.

Haven't liked her since I met her at a corporate do many years ago. Stuck up and dismissive, I found her.

I’ve found that I’ve grown into Jo Whiley and her presenting style. I’ve always enjoyed her music choices, and have learnt a lot about up and coming popular music through her shows. She didn’t click for me on the afternoon slot, but the evening slot is just perfect because she gets to talk passionately about the music.

So if you are a MN lurker Jo, thanks because I’m pretty sure my musical choices would have been very boring without you and I would have had much less to chat about when I started uni!

(And yes, Steve Wright is cringeworthy, my kids love the ‘factoids’ though!)

I like her a lot better after reading this thread Sad.

I've always liked JW since Radio 1 evening session days, up to her covering Glastonbury. I don't listen to r2 as I listen to 6music. I wish she would go on there.

Did you really just start a thread for the sole purpose of slagging someone off? Bloody hell, have a word with yourself.

Her show isn't meant to be cool. We're all a bit long in the tooth for that. It's new music for grown-ups, which will do me by 7pm.

Catch yourself on @TSSDNCOP Just don't listen to her if you don't want to. There's only one person sounding like a cock round here.

RolandOnTheRopes · 20/03/2020 17:21

She does one of the voice overs on the C25K app. It's brilliant.

Report
TSSDNCOP · 20/03/2020 17:10

I cannot stand her.

The worst bit is when she does that “thought bubbles” bit. She can’t even read out loud without sounding like a patronising cock.

What a mean spirited thread. What happened to "be kind"? If you don't like her just turn something else on.
Shame on you.

I love her. I'm going to find this hard to explain but I like that she's older than me and still has her obvious expertise and interests - ie music. I find once women hit a certain age on tv it's pretty much loose women or nothing.

And personally for me I found it harder as I got older to keep a sense of myself under all of the general life admin; I always found her to be a bit of an inspiration in that respect. Jo Wiley is still relevant and has a personality- there's hope for me yet!!

Just nasty.
I think Jo is a national treasure now.
Her early days with John Peel set her up as a highly respected DJ and she's carried the can for JP where not many others from that clique had the credentials to carry it off.
Yeah she may have fangirled a bit in the 90s but she's moved with the times and we've all grown up together.
Her charitable work speaks for its self and in response to having just raised 1/2 a million £ for Sport relief with Rev Kate and Ritchie a few days ago, she's got every right to talk about running/swimming/cycling as much as she likes.
You might have had a point if you were slating some of the forgettable Strictly (non) celebs still milking the "when I done Strictly".
Keep up the good work Jo.

Seriously ChicChicChicChiclana why start a thread to slag someone off? Did you want everyone to pile in with how much they don't like her either. You know these threads escalate and someone else adds something else that they don't like about a person.
Have you had your head in the sand about Caroline Flack? About how everyone came out with the #BeKind stuff and if you haven't got anything to say don't say it.
I get you may not like her style. There are loads of people in the public eye that I am sure are very nice but their style of delivery grates on me. It's not a big deal, I just find something else I like.
This isn't about defending JW, and she is. hopefully, thick skinned enough to put it down to an ignorant troll. It's the whole culture of picking at someone and everyone else joins in that stinks.

You perceive her as being smug, someone else sees her as being awkward in front of a camera. I see someone doing their job.

C25K is a brilliant programme and she did play a big part in encouraging people though. Wink

Agree this thread is unkind. I reckon she’s a MNetter. Also agree Steve Wright should be sacked

Oh the irony

I always think she sounds a bit awkward and her show is way too middle aged (taxi service) to be cool!

Is there any individual more pleased with themselves?

Yes - that accolade belongs to Chris Evans, former Radio 2 breakfast host.

Why start a thread to slag someone off?
Shes not done said anything offensive. Shes just a DJ.
Why be spiteful?
Have people not learned anything?

Report
EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 20/03/2020 06:31

She is knowledgeable about music (I don’t particularly like the same music) and I would rather listen to her than someone who just likes the sound of their own voice like so many on the radio

Report
Billyeyelash · 19/03/2020 23:58

I like the music on her show. Never felt like I've got to know the real Jo W. That's fine she's there to play music.
