Would you opt for Lanzarote or Gran Canaria in February? Which is better?

I went to gran can in March and it was the windiest place I’ve ever been. If you’re going for the weather, the canaries in feb aren’t going to be great. Also went to Lanzarote at end of October and the weather was gorgeous.

We’re going to Lanzarote beginning of Feb. It will be our 4th visit. Haven’t been to Gran Canaria. Been to Tenerife and Fuerteventura. Lanzarote by far nicest of these. We’re staying in a villa in Puerto Calero.

Only been to lanzarote in July (pdc) and it was very windy, first night we got there I seen a lady in a Parker coat 🤣 It's a really lovely place though and definitely worth a visit.

We're going to Lanzarote in Feb. Staying in Puerto del carmen. I don't think it will be that warm and will be windy but I'm hoping its warmer and sunnier than here.

I think Lanzarote is far more interesting than gran canaria.

We got back from Lanzarote last night. It was lovely and warm. We've visited many, many times since having children and it's the most wonderful place.

I really just would like to be able to sit round a pool and read my book in some warm weather. Is it an unrealistic expectation for Gran Canaria?

I prefer Lanzarote. All lower rise and more interesting. We go most years in feb. It’s generally like a nice spring day in uk 18/20 degrees. Might need a light jacket. Nice enough to have lunch outside and sit by a pool reading. Too cold for swimming.

I have been to Lanzarote four times and Gran Can three. I much prefer Lanzarote. Wouldnt go back to Gran can unless it was an amazing deal I happened across. And Furteventura I hated.

Just realised I was actually there 14th February last year. It was a heatwave and the hottest february they had had in either a decade or 30 years I cant remember what the woman said.

I have been to several of the canary islands and Lanzarote is my favourite. Least favourite is Tenerife. We have been in March, May, August, September and October and I get sunburnt every time even with factor 50. Swam in the sea each time.

I went lanzarote in March and it was freezing. Never again.

your weather expectations for the canaries in February are....optimistic.

it might be nice and sunny, but it is likely to be not that warm, possibly rain a bit, and if you choose Lanzarote, it will be windy.

Gran Canaria was touted as 20 degrees in Feb, which seemed warm enough to sit outside reading pleasantly. Swimming would be too cold I know, and know Lanzarote is windy. If you have any better suggestions?

Hovering as about to book Lanzarote for Dd 21st in February...
Do like Playa Blanca.
Should be some sunny days.

We like both but Playa Blanca in Lanzarote has stolen our hearts, nice walks, nice beaches, great variety of restaurants and shops. Very walkable so no need for a car.

I've just come back from Lanzarote. The weather was beautiful, like a warm spring day. people swimming in the sea and our hotel pool was heated anyway. I wouldn't have chosen to go there other than to get a bit of sunshine in January and I was pleasantly surprised by both the weather and the place. We went to Playa Blanca which was very nice especially around the marina.

Cape Verde?
To me, Lanzarote has always been mild rather than warm. I have found memories of July last year sat on a sunbed wrapped in towels. I think I also saw the lady in the parker and was jealous!!!!
