Heard good things about weighted blankets to help kids anxiety and sleep... but they’re £££ anyone used one and found any good?

I’ve been pondering one for myself, but most seem to be child size?

I got one for my DD who has anxiety. She refused to try it so I now use it
I love it. I get such a good sleep
Mine was £80 from amazon and came with a spare cover

I bought one for my ds in the hope it would help him sleep better but it didn’t work...cost £120 and now it just lies on his bedroom floor 😭 I really should try to sell it...

My DS and I both have them and love them. Very effective for calming anxiety and getting good sleep for both of us.

If you like deep muscle pressure you may like them. Google it - is an OT calm down technique for sensory overload I think.

Ebay the blankets if they don’t work, but heavy to post! I got one for dd and massively reduced nighttime worrying. You can achieve much the same effect with a few heavy quilts but it is super relaxing for us.

The younger kids can try Lycra stretchy blankets on amazon for about £30.

You have to be careful with children and weighted blankets to make sure they can throw them off as can overheat.

We got ours on amazon for £50 on deal of the day - you may get offers around the cyber Monday etc

My son has ADD. We got him one last Christmas and it’s been worth every penny.

I have been thinking about getting one of these, are they very warm? I can't sleep without something over me but I don't like to be too warm.

I got one for DS1 who was having trouble with insomnia, but he just couldn't keep it on the bed, so it kept slipping off and he woke up cold. DS2 snaffled it, and hasn't let me or DP have a try since - he loves it (not that he had any trouble sleeping anyway..)

My DS has ASD and often has anxiety issues. The weighted blanket is great - really seems to work for him. He's a teenager btw - it's been a real bonus.

I recently bought one by Gravity. It was very expensive. I had high hopes, but it hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.

It’s very plush and velvety, but also slidy so it slides off the bed through the night.
The glass beads are in little pockets and they run down the way so rather than having weight on top of me, I’m surrounded by weight, IYSWIM.
There’s a 30 day money back guarantee, but I’d have to pay for postage.

I like it and use it daily, but I can’t say it’s worth the money. I could have bought a cheaper one from amazon or eBay, but even they are quite pricey and could be a lot worse quality.

I adore mine but DS2 has adopted it and DS1 badgered me into buying him one too. They both have ASD and it does help them sleep. It used to help me sleep but I can't justify paying that much money a third time!

Please research safety advice before you buy. There is some guidance, for instance they are not recommended for those with epilepsy and other health conditions.

DS 15 has one and he loves it. It’s definitely helped with sleeping.

We got one for my son with ASD, has really helped him. Improved quality of sleep and reduced anxiety. He now has one at home and one at university.

I’ve heard you can make one with rice for weight if you any way handy with a sewing machine. I’m very tempted to try it.

My ds loves his, however he still is a rubbish sleeper, so not a bad buy but not brilliant either!

I have a koala blanket, it's bloody heavy but makes me fall asleep almost as soon as I cocoon myself in it. I do get a bit hot halfway through the night though so rarely end the night in it!!

I bloody love mine, but DH couldn't deal with the weight of his. Really must get round to selling it! DD also has one and it definitely improved her sleeping. Ours were from Calming Blankets
