ie - how to choose/register a domain name - then who's the best hoster etc.

I've never done it before and am complete novice.

Don't need ecommerce - just an advert type page.

Hi TracyK

try googling 'domain names' or 'register domain name'. A company such as daily.co.uk can register a domain name for you, you simply see if it is available on their website and if it is buy it for about £2.50 per year. They also do 3 web hosting packages which can include a simple step-by-step procedure for building a website. There are loads of companies offering the same, so take your pick!

Hope this helps!

Buy a domain for approx. 10 for co.uk for 2 years or 20 for a .com for two years

I wouldn't go for anythign cheaper because they will try to fuck you over in some way in order to make money

I recommend www.xcalibre.co.uk

You will then need to buy hosting for the domain name (i.e. your webpage needs to be stored on a server somewhere) - this costs around 25 per year

that's your starting position

Just used Moonfruit at Lapin's recommendation and it was so easy and the site looks pretty good. I had previously registered my domain name elsewhere but had to transfer it.
