Interview next week...sense check needed

I have an interview next week, initially I was really pleased but am struggling to not talk myself out of going through with it. It is a new role, which incorporates a lot of my work experience, with some elements such as line management for a small team that I haven't really done before bar a period of secondment. The past 12 months have been horrible in my current role, so why I am now reluctant to take this chance..? I feel that I am not being utilised in my current role and that I am effectively being de skilled and have no role or purpose.
I am not an overly confident person and this has just chipped away further at my confidence levels and I worry that I am just not capable..
Sense check needed and a good talking to, I would be grateful for any advise on how to get myself out of this rut.

Oh my gosh absolutely go for it! You're in a rut because you're not challenged, and you're not challenged because you are ready for a step up.

Good luck!!

This is your chance! Grab it! Put 100% in, March in with your head held high and absolutely bloody go for it. As you haven’t had much line management experience, I would reference examples from what you do have, and then talk about how you would like to manage the team, and how you would be keen to do training to further develop your leadership skills. In leading the team think about two things: what must the team be successful at and how can you track that? And how can you build a strong positive team culture where people feel supported and motivated. You can do it!

Also, a good question to ask is: How would you rate how the team operates now, and what would improve that rating by 10%?

They wouldn’t interview you if they weren’t interested. You can do this.

The longer you stay where you are the more you will feel de-skilled and the less confidence you will have. You need to get out while you can. Best of luck!

Do it! Even if it's just for the interview experience. You may come away 100% sure you don't want to work there, but on the other hand you may realise it's just what you need. Good luck!

Go! I very nearly cancelled an interview because I had another job offer, it was for an easier life not wanting to prep for another interview and because I didn't think I stood a chance so wanted to save myself the hassle and disappointment. I got it! Go for it, and if successful, you can always use that offer to renegotiate your current role to try to make it what you want, that would show to you what you're worth to your employer to decide what to do- a colleague of mine did this last year.

Please do the interview and give it your absolute best whatever happens. Staying in your current job will sap your confidence further.

I think things always happen for a reason, so if you’re meant to get the job, you’ll get it! If not, the interview and application process is a GREAT experience. I’ve applied for a job which, IF I get asked to attend an interview, I would be petrified as the role is far more challenging than my current role; but it’s always good to get yourself out there to see if you stand a chance. GOOD LUCK 🌺
