Job application question

I'm probably over thinking this but just to set me on the right track how would you interpret this question on an application form is..
'Demonstrate previous experience of data input, evidencing attention to detail and accuracy'?
Would I be correct in demonstrating previous experience of data input by confirming a previous relevant role and perhaps the company name where I carried out that roll and to evidence the attention to detail and accuracy by describing that role?

If you had a target that you met - maybe in your appraisal - some kind of scoring system, you could mention that too.

That kind of question is asking for an example of where you have demonstrated the skill/competency/quality in your previous roles.

So yes, you would start with 'I gained experience of data input in my role as X at Y company'. To what extent you need to describe what X role means depends on how obvious it is/how it relates to the question. So if you role was 'Data Entry clerk' yes it would be highly relevant to explain what kind of data you were inputting into what systems/software/format for what reason/use etc. But if your job was 'Sales Manager' you probably don't need to explain what you were selling to who in great detail as it doesn't really matter for the purposes of the question (hopefully this is covered elsewhere in your CV or application), but you can explain how you would input sales/customer data into whatever systems were used and how you showed the qualities they are looking for -attention to detail etc.

Use the STAR model - Situation Task Action Result. So something like 'When I was sales manager at Big Co. (Situation), I was responsible for inputting order data into our customer database (Task). I utilised my attention to detail and ability to accurately record information and input numerical and verbal data into the system using ABC software (Action). I had a very high degree of accuracy, speed of entry and low error rate as evidence by my score of 'excellent' in this area in my annual appraisal (Result). Obviously you might want to pad that out a little and personalise using any other 'buzzwords' you have picked up from the advert etc but that's the basic format...
