Just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation. My partner and I currently both work for the same employer but it is looking like he will be made redundant on the 1st October. Our baby is due on 25th October. Our plan had been for me to take 13 weeks of maternity leave as it is on full pay, then swap to shared parental pay which we would alternate. Now we are considering me going back to work as soon as I feel I can and him looking after the baby, if he is still unemployed. If he is no longer employed can he still claim statutory shared parental pay and does it come from the government or does the employer have to pay it? I've had a look at the government website and there's no mention of it. I'll email our HR department too but they were pretty useless with just the basic rules even though they employ 9500 people. Or any ideas where else I could turn for advice? Thanks in advance!
