you are working on a confidential project. Your team manager walks up to you and tells you that he has few pointers regarding the project that might help you and asks you to tell him the details of the project so that he can cross verify. how would you respond to such requests from a person who is not directly involved in the project and what steps would you take to ensure the confidentiality of project remain tact?

Well, I'd be asking about non-disclosure agreements. That's the easy way to deal with enquiries - "have you been NDA'd?" - and means everyone knows where they stand.

That question sounds like fishing for information so I'd probably be blunt and say this is a confidential project, I'll need to check in with the project manager first, do you want to come with me to see them now? And repeat if he was pushy about it. But then. I am blunt!
