Will my start date be pushed back

Has anyone been in this situation of late?

I applied for a care assistant job in a care home before this virus took hold I'm meant to be starting in a few weeks but have just found out that the home I'm going to be working in has 2 residents that have been tested for coronavirus and are positive.
Will there be any chance my start will be pushed back or do you think I should say that I'm happy to wait a few more weeks at least?

Dont think anyone here will be able to answer that one for you as it will depend on each homes circumstances..

I do know my SIL who manages a care home is In desperate need of staff right now and has got herself a uniform and is working on frontline.

Was just hoping there was others out there that were in the same position
No idea what to do keep healthy and protect my self and family and others and apply again or risk it all

Your concerns are understandable, especially if it is not an environment you've worked in before. Read up on the guidelines that have been issued for carers and then call them and be honest, they shouldn't be surprised at your questions.

Ask about what protection (PPE and working practices around clients with and without suspected COVID19) is in place for carers and tell them your concerns before you make a decision. I would hope as a new start you wouldn't be dealing with clients suspected to have the virus.

From what I've heard (the carehome is just behind us so a 5 min walk) the news on this was announced by the local paper and I know the home has separate units and 2 separate entrances. The 2 cases are in one unit only which maybe why the other entrance the gates were closed over and a sign on the gate
See cause I know this virus is deadly for all no matter what age etc and that theres people who are carriers of the virus and not show symptoms then easily pass it on
That may be the case in the home someone may be a carrier and not know
I'm in 2 minds here I want to work and was looking forward to it but now cause this virus I'm scared and worried of catching it and either losing my life to it or bringing it home
