Anyone had a carer change?

I've been cleaning (evenings) for 13 years and just got a new job doing the same thing though this ones tougher than the last more to do so I'm constantly knackered after work from running about here and there within 4 hours.
I've been sitting thinking for months now should I completely give up the cleaning and go out my comfort zone and apply for something different was thinking a care assistant or something where I'm home in the evening

Anyone else had a change of heart when it came to jobs changed and never looked back?

Many care assistants will be busy during th evenings, as they are helping their clients to bed then.

I mean, that's not to say you shouldn't go for it, but it might not be what you are aiming for.

Go for it but look at all the options first. How about a job in a school where you get holidays? Dinner lady/TA? Or self-employed cleaning in peoples homes where you can choose your own hours?
I think working as a carer would be harder work, physically and mentally, and a lot of employers would treat you like a slave.

I've seen some that say they are flexible but then if I really enjoyed it I wouldn't mind
Just at that point where I'm like really is this all your good at take a chance I know lots of folk that have took a chance on a different job all together and love it my hubby to be went from different work then cleaning for 10 years to just recently a carer in a carehome for dementia and loves it yes he can be stressed and tired as hes the night shift be doenst regret it

Was thinking of some call it care giver or care assistant but it's in the residents own homes much like what you would do if you were going round to check on your gran or a elderly neighbour my sis in law does kind of the same thing one week shes day shift next she could be back shift for a few days and finishes at 9pm some days shes maybe in the office doing paper work

Care is a wonderful job and I've worked in a few settings. Really rewarding however there are lots of down sides.

In community care in particular, if you worked mornings, you're likely to be working from around 7am until 1/2pm but you won't get paid the full 6 or 7 hours, you are only paid whilst you are in the clients house.

Often you are only allocated 15 to 30 minutes per client to support with personal care/medication/meals etc. With either not enough travelling time to the next person, or too much that means you're sat in a car park.

On the flip side, you get to meet wonderful people with amazing stories to tell. Everyday is different and you get to help vulnerable people when they need it most.

I say it's worth a try. I was young in my first care job and got the job, reluctantly, as there was nothing else going, and I never looked back. Lots of opportunity for career progression in different avenues too if you're interested in the future

Think now I'm 36 about to get married looking into getting a house plus thinking about adding to the family things are changing and not sure if continuing with cleaning jobs is the best option and possibly time for a change to coincide with everything else. I never finished college or was the best at school so had to stick with meaningless jobs most of these places I've seen train you up to get a qualification where I can probably take that and get into a care home I wished etc
