Crazy business idea or not?

I keep hoping that I can find this kind of service but when I search it leads down quite a different path that I am most definitely not interested in.

The idea is a safe haven/stress-free space for adults, that takes the form of a child's bedroom, so toys, books, lovely colours, pictures, comfortable bed. They can come for a few hours or stay the night and basically, regress back to the safety of childhood in a safe non-judgemental place. They can play with toys, have their meals brought it, have a bedtime story read to them, be mothered, sang to, kissed goodnight etc.

As I said, any searches for this invariably take you down the 'adult nursery' path - this is most DEFINITELY NOT what I am talking about which is completely innocent and meant as a break from the pressures and stresses of being a grown-up.

Do you think this is even possible? Would you want this service?

I do think it sounds too much like a kink service

Sorry, I think it's weird.

That's what I'm afraid of. Nothing could be further from the truth but it's how to communicate that and preserve it.

Sorry that was my reply to Aridane.

Yep sounds like a fetish. Besides I could do that any night of the week for free by swapping bedrooms with my child and listening to an audio book.

Could you pitch it differently? Remove the bedtime story/kiss goodnight/bed element and focus more on stress management through play therapy?

Sorry but I think that sounds... Utterly bonkers. The non-kinkster market would be very, very, very, very tiny, say a single-digit number of people in an entire year in the whole country. 99.9% of the interest would be from kinksters. The vast majority of adults manage to relieve the stresses of adult life without any desire to play with dollies again.

Most adults also either don't want to pretend to be another adults mother, or don't want to have to pay someone else to pretend to be their mother.

Thank you, you may have something there. I am seeing it's almost impossible for those elements, the kiss, etc. to be interpreted as innocent even thought they would be. I will think about that.

That’s a really odd idea.

I can’t imagine you’d get many customers, and you’d have a difficult time screening out the perverts who want you to change their nappy etc.

Maybe think about setting up a play centre for adults instead? Eg somewhere in west London there’s a soft play/ball pit that’s aimed at adults, I think it’s in a bar or club. That sounds similar to what you’re thinking of but less weird.

That idea will only attract weirdos.

Anyway, there is plenty of asmr on YouTube that does the personal attention, story telling etc and that's free.

I didn't know about these, I will have a look.

The last thing I want to do when I'm stressed is regress to childhood. That's just...weird.

I fear you may be right!

I think I have my answer - the idea as it stands IS crazy.

I'd agree with others, it sounds really weird and I can't imagine that anyone except kinky males will pay for this service. It also sounds like any lone workers could end up in unsafe circumstances.

Similar de-stressing businesses around here are zero gravity flotation tank rooms or crafty type businesses like pottery painting, jewellery making, "healing houses". In a retreat type business you could maybe run "healing the inner child" type workshops on a drop in basis.

Thank you, all. I suppose de-stressing means different things to different people. I have also worried about the safety aspect. I quite like the idea of setting up a youtube ASMR channel.
