Hi. So basically, at the moment I'm working part time in a job I absolutely hate! 😡😫
I have been suspended with full pay over something really stupid (forgot to pay for a £1.90 sandwich at end of shift - as others have done and just paid for it the next shift!) and awaiting a disciplinary. As I am a manager they are coming down harder on me. Anyway, the outlook is good and I should just get a slap on the wrist but there is still the risk I could lose my job as it has been known for this company to sack managers over trivial things.
Prior to this I was applying for jobs as I cannot stand the work or the late hours I am doing at the moment. I have just interviewed for a job that I would love and it went really well but..it's full time and also ALOT of travelling every day. So I'd be going from 2 days a week to 5, with driving for at least 40 minutes and a bus for 10 mins (Park and Ride) there and back every morning and evening and would have to get up at the crack of dawn to help get my 9 year old ready for school and get ready myself then school run then the commute. At the moment I am only a 10 min drive from work.
My question is, do I take it?? My partner has advised I will find all this too tiring and draining and get stressed with it all and maybe just taking this job to 1.avoid being sacked and 2.to leave the job I hate. I of course was defensive as soon as he said this lol but now..He has a point. Due to health reasons and insomnia I AM prone to fatigue 😕
I am stuck with making the right decision here. Am I panic taking this job do you think? Shall I wait for the right job to come along and go to my disciplinary when the date finally comes through and hope to keep my job?
I have until Wednesday to make my mind up as I am meeting the manager to officially be offered the job.
TIA for any advice 🙂
