Setting up own parent and chid phonics class advice on DBS checks

Hi I am looking into running a parent and child phonics classes, which will be for around 45 mins in a hall somewhere. I have been looking into DBS checks and I am still unsure whether I need an enhanced check or a basic check? As it seems that I will need to apply under an organisation to get a enchanced DBS check. So not really sure how i go about this, does anyone have any advice please?

Thank you

You need an advanced check. The organisation is the name of the group. I'm not sure they check the organisation name or not, might be worth a call to them.
Are you making a profit from this? Or taking any sort of income? Just because volunteer DBS checks are (or at least used to be) free.

Thank you for replying. I will hope to make a small profit, I haven't started yet I have just been looking into everything. Ok that all makes sense now about using the name of the group, as I was expecting to need an enhanced one but, kept being told that an individual is unable to apply for this.

Thanks again

I actually run a franchise called The Story Frog which basically offers this but we also run workshops, classes, parties and after school clubs as well as classes for babies and preschoolers. We have an amazing team and love what we do - it is basically a business in a box model but with all the business stuff done, website design, copyright, resources , music etc plus we are low cost so in terms of what you inevitably end up spending yourself when setting out it ticks all those boxes as well google us if you are interested in finding out more.

You need the highest level available. Are you hoping to make money or not? And basic DBS checks are not sufficient enough for most people working in the childcare or education sector. Even my dad who teaches children had to have a enhanced DBS check done. When I was studying for my childcare qualification I was basically told to apply for a stringent one as it was recommended just in case.
