Blog post on work from home opportunities

I have written a blog post on different ways to earn money flexibly around family commitments and/or an existing job. I have included a few suggestions that I have picked up from this section of Mumsnet and from other people.

I wonder if you would have a look at it for me and tell me if I have missed anything obvious? Or if you've got any nuggets of advice, good websites, sources of support, anything really.

The blog is anti MLM and has arisen from the threads in Money Matters, entitled Bot Watch. I am not looking to argue that issue here, just to be able to give alternatives to people who are told that an MLM is their only hope of being able to earn any money and have any sort of work/life balance.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer me.

I think it's really well written OP but I feel it would be even more informative if you added in expected earnings. If I'm honest it's also a little long - you could use expected earnings to eliminate the opportunities which are really going to make money e.g. the surveys (I've attempted to make money from these and failed miserably!) HTH

Good idea Mrs Villiers. I'm trying out some of the ideas and I have already deleted some of the sites. They aren't as good as they had been made out to be. I'll see if I can work out what earnings might be.

A lot of these sites are based in the US. What are the implications of earning money from a US company, perhaps there aren't any, I don't know.

There aren't any. I used to earn in dollars all the time and had a VERY long conversation with someone at HMRC about how to convert the earnings into sterling to declare on a tax return. Long story short, HRMC take the average exchange rate over the year and use this for their conversion, the rates are published on their website. So you just add up all your earnings in dollars through the year and convert it once. Same principle for euros or any other currency.

Sometimes a US based organisation will ask you to sign a disclaimer saying you're not a US resident and therefore not subject to their tax laws, but that's purely a formality.
