First client - panicking

Ok, so I've found my first client for the business I have recently started. I was really excited but now I'm panicking, I feel like I have loads of questions after talking to the client but didn't think of them at the time. I suppose I am worried that I'm not doing the right thing in the right way. I'm not sure if I'm being irrational or not, and wondering is this normal? Have other people felt like this after starting their own business?

email them
"just to clarify so that we both know exactly what has been agreed"
its more professional than trying to guess Smile

Thanks for replying! Yes it's probably best to ask than misunderstanding what is going on. Think I'm feeling slightly more rational about the situation now.

I always 'reflect' things back to a new client:

'Was great to meet you yesterday, can I just clarify this is where we are:

I do have a few questions now I've had the chance to think through your requirements - would it be easier to do this on email or will I fix a time to give you a call?'

As easy as that - they will be expecting questions if it's a new relationship by the way, it's in their interests to help you do good work!

Agree,
I also encourage them to pop in an email anything they thought of as they were driving home / after I left
as then such issues get aired early and can be resolved simply.

I also do it with certain long standing clients who have a tendency to 'misremember' what we agreed Grin
