I absolutely despair

I'm so fucking sick of toxic masculinity. To go from being heartened by the reaction of men close to me following the horrific murder of Sarah Everard, to in absolute despair at the comments from men on a local news post about it. They're absolutely disgraceful.

Honestly, if it was announced that there was an all female-island to go to for a six month holiday, I'd be on the next chopper. And yes I still know it's NOT ALL MEN!!

Rant over. Just despair, are things ever going to change??

I hear you. But I don't think things will ever change :(

I don't think we are even close to it changing when plenty of men are centring themselves and plenty of women are centring men. NAMALT being spewed out all the time.

It won't change. I feel we need to raise our girls to be cold as ice & hard as nails.

Misogyny is so endemic it seems impossible that anything will change. It’s going to take years and it makes me so fucking angry.

Men on my local newspaper saying now how women should take it as a compliment when they wolf whistle or "cop a cheeky feel". Saying if we assume all men are murderers (which nobody has said) then they'll assume all women are "sluts". Saying a million fucking times over that more men are murdered than women. Yes.... BY MEN!!! Honestly ladies, let's seriously consider colonising Mars and making it strictly females-only

What have the men you know said about this murder?

Report

And no I don't think things will change.

There's no appetite in society or the authorities to tackle VAWG.

That sort of says it all really... Angry

It's awful and I can't see anything changing either. The police had an opportunity last night to show understanding of why women are so angry and look what happened instead.

For the sake of your own blood pressure, maybe avoid the btl comments. It's always men, and it's generally the fucking stupid and horrible men who feel the need to share their fucking stupid, horrible opinions below news articles.

Let's put it this way, when I found out I was pregnant I just assumed I'd have a girl. Don't know why maybe because my mum had me and my sister. Butbwhrn I found out I was having a boy I was so unbelievably relieved that he wouldn't have to deal with life the way I do.

We have every right to be angry, b**y furious about all this.
The Met is lead by a woman and there was no solidarity whatsoever.
No understanding about the scale of the problem and no understanding about the depth of feeling.

Public figures in authority just aren't bothered. They don't care.
Commissioner Dick won't have to worry about walking home and looking over her shoulder, she will have a driver and car to ferry her about London. And because this is very unlikely to every affect her, why would she bother.

I was pondering today what would happen if a gang of marauding male rugby player types were prowling the streets and parks, Catcalling and grabbing at the male runners and dog walkers, yelling obscenities and rape threats. And generally scaring the men shitless... I wonder how that would go down?

The women who make it into leadership or prominent roles tend to be the male approved type

This is so true, Dick and Patel need to walk the streets of London for an hour every night for a month, totally alone. Then we might see some changes.

Comparing the police facilitating football fans recently with police violence against women in Clapham Common last night says it all.

I hear you. I'm normally a totally law abiding person.

But I am SO angry now.

There is a fuckin gigantic epidemic of sexual harraassment, violence and murder of women, by men. And there is almost no comeback for them.

Report
colouringindoors · 14/03/2021 12:01

Seatime

Exactly. They took those actions against women because they could and because they wouldn't get beaten up in the process.

The decision to take that approach is almost unbelievable given Sarah's murder and a police officer under arrest.

Their actions are on Priti Patel and Cressida Dick.

NAMALT.

But the young men I encountered last night were.

And I’m a grown bloody woman replaying what one of them said to me in my head.

I’ve survived so much worse and his little sentence is bothering me still.

I don’t see it changing. But it bloody well should change.

Let's face it, the Met are still not being open or transparent about the intimate/ sexual relationships that multiple women were deceived into having with undercover officers. They are misogynist to the core. The idea that they can protect women when they clearly have so little respect for them is laughable.
