Pleased to say that the resources that have just popped through for our school has JKR on them as a role model (along with other amazing women).

Great video as well by the speaking poet that performed in Biden's inauguration.

I'm very pleased to hear JKR is included.

That is heartening OP - our school seems to have started excluding JKR from any lists of inspirational women, female writers, etc 🙄 DC will be turning up on their class Zoom calls dressed as HP characters for World Book Day tomorrow!

That’s good.

I was listening to stupid o’clock radio this morning and the broadcaster mentioned a Hogwarts computer game where you could ‘choose your gender’ (and therefore your name, voice, which dorm you lived in) and how it was probably in response to JKs ‘anti trans’ comments (oooh what would she think?).

He then went on to describe how he interviewed her a while ago, had been warned that she was difficult, so took his kid along as some sort of human shield. He then said something about her being prickly with him when he said to her the books were popular with kids (because she said ‘adults like them too’). Not one mention of the whole amazing reading phenomenon in kids (especially boys), her phenomenal amount of charity work, her DV experiences, or the disgusting vitriol she received. Not a good word to say about her.

I think he is just a nasty misogynist. I will listen to the shipping forecasts in future.

Well that's a pleasant surprise!

That broadcaster sounds like a dick, and she probably picked up on that fact pretty quickly.

Amanda Gorman is the name of the poet.

Yes, JKR was responsible for many children being incentivised to learn to read. Got HP on tape first, then the boy was so keen to read the books.
