Sorry about link, I don’t know how to add pictures. Mainly because I’m knackered, and silly, but I just saw this.

Well that's come back to bite him from a great distance of time Grin

Hehehe. This is no surprise to me. I’ve never liked him. And his films are utterly artless poverty porn tourism. Made for white Guardian readers, who should give a tenner to a food bank, rather than “empathise” with the working classes and give money to this multi millionaire. Lots of millionaires on the hard left. 🤔

Pretty dickish comment from him, but I can’t agree on your summation of his body of work. I, Daniel Blake might be poverty porn to you, but it’s descriptive of daily life for a too large number of people near me.

"That's nice, dear. Nobody cares."

I wouldn't like to be judged today on my views from decades ago.
I try to afford others the same courtesy.

I've told racist jokes as a teen but didn't hold racist views.
I've questioned homosexuality as a young man and now I never question it.
I've said things to people I regretted later.
I didn't say things to others that I wish I had.

I'm more inclined to be offended by a hack seeking out decades old comments.

If I'm honest with myself, I could be a bit of an arse when I was a student, and probably said some ridiculous things. At least he didn't penetrate a pig's head.

What's Michael Crick's agenda in tweeting this?

'Reportedly said' 60 odd years ago...

So possible that a] he didn't say it at all or b] that if he did say it as a 20 year old student he has revised his opinion somewhat by now.

Complete non story.

It’s a mark of the man that his views have evolved over time. And a mark of the journalist that he’s digging out stories from 50(?) years ago to score non points.

Liked the 'well done for finding the ground' comment, after having scraped at the bottom of the barrel for long enough. Yes OP you are being silly.

A comment from 1960. Are you serious?

Ah, so no dissing of poisonous antisemite Ken. Ok. 😔 I personally don’t think his views have actually changed a jot. And this was more about how the left Movement really feels about women. They aren’t interested. They are Fairweather allies.

Diss away if you find something current.

Don't know much about Ken Loach, but this quote dates from 1960. 58 years ago. I very much doubt that this was even mildly out of step with the powers that be of 1960.

Had to larf at the tweet lower down...." He'll be getting replaced by Sir Christopher Plummer"🙂

I like the irony that Ken Loach's last film ("I, Danielle Blake") was much less profitable at the box office than Sarah Gavron's film about feminism ("Suffragette").

oops - that should be "I, Daniel Blake".
