Yes it's that cancerous organ of depravity, Teen Vogue, which previously brought you such delights as 'Anal sex what you need to know'.

www.teenvogue.com/story/transgender-misogyny

Basically the author finally concedes that she will never stop being a woman, she will always experience the realities of human sexual dimorphism (being small), but it's sufficient to remove her genitals and breasts, she just doesn't need to give up her lipstick, short skirts and 'acting girly in the bedroom'.

This is the publication aimed at 11-17 year old girls (presumably 11-17 year old boys read other publications, like, er the Beano, or WWE monthly) so it does make you wonder why exactly a putative BOY (trans boy is writing in it). Surely if said person is really a boy, their thoughts belong in a male publication?

Anyway good to know that the truly important thing for transboys is that you make sure you chop your genitals and breasts off, because you can always keep your lipstick and skirts as a bloke!

Internalised misogyny as a motivation for transing oneself... who'd a thunk it? Colour me surprised.

They sound rather confused. How feminine do you have to be until you are not a man? Because Lipstick and short skirts are pretty damn feminine. At any rate I don't think I would be cutting out my ovaries until I had figured what my position in regards to gender actually was Confused

S/he's gone wrong right at the start. There are not only 3 types of female, and not fitting into one of those three does not mean you have to be a male.

On one hand I think she's a dick, but on the other hand, I feel very sorry for her. What happened in her life that made her so fucked up?

pisacake · 09/11/2017 23:40

Well it surely doesn't help publications like Teen Vogue publishing trans articles every month.

She's incredibly confused and her internalised misogyny has evolved into self harm.

Much as I have sympathy I have a problem with her pushing her fucked up views onto others as some kind of life affirming example.

I wonder how she/he will feel in 10yrs time? Probably full of regret.

This is just so sad to read. I completely identify with her feeling about holding herself up to idealised models of femininity and feeling lacking. I absolutely felt like this growing up, and still do sometimes. But it’s not because I’m trans, it’s because those ideals are bullshit and I now realise many, many women and girls feel and felt the same as me!

She does sound reasonably intelligent, if a little confused, so I reckon she’ll figure it out eventually. By then, of course, it will be too late to undo the damage of hormones and surgery.

Depressing.

What the fuck. Poor woman. God. How have we ended up in a situation where a woman honestly thinks that there are 3 very narrow types of female and if you don't fit them, the answer is to mutilate your body and call yourself a femme man??!!

Hands up who does fit one of those boxes. I know very few women that do/did.

Oh my God. Honestly today all the things I have read on here and AIBU have just made me feel so depressed. This is the icing on the cake. I feel awful and powerless that there are confused people (particularly young women) out there feeling like this and thinking this trans trend is the answer. So much worse that the course of action is to mutilate yourself to feel better, discover that wasn't the answer and ... then what? The damage is done.

I think I need to take a break from the internet for the rest of today. I'm feeling a bit emotional about it all.

Well, my take home from this is to ban my DDs from ever looking at teen vogue. I don't buy magazines and tell my DD1 that I think they're generally rubbish, preferring actual books. This article is totally depressing in so many ways.

I would imagine there's a very high risk of this poor confused FEMALE, committing suicide, in the future, when she realises she has mutilated herself for a fantasy. With a hysterectomy she will increase her risk of osteoporosis, not to mention a lovely, early middle aged tum, if she's not very careful. I'm speaking from experience on the hysterectomy.

I'm really, really flat chested and have had a total hysterectomy, does that make me a man? Aw bollocks! ☹️ Or not, as the case may be.

Here's this month's Teen Vogue bullshit.

www.teenvogue.com/story/hillary-clinton-21-under-21-cover-story-volume-4-equality-feminism

Yes it's a guest-edited-by-Hillary edition with the

"21 Under 21: the Girls and Femmes Changing the World!"

femmes? Say what now?

Naturally the name at the very top of the list isn't a girl at all, nope it's Hunter Schafer. Hunter came out as a gay boy age 12 to his parents, Presbyterian pastors. It seems that any attempt to pray the gay away succeeded, because he is now a girl, and not gay at all!

Hunter lines up along side Muzoon Almellehan, Syrian refguee and education for girls campaigner, Nadya Okamoto, Harvard student and menstruation campaigner, 10-year-old Mari Copeny who wrote to Barack Obama about the Flint water crisis, and Simone Askew, Rhodes Scholar and first African-American woman to be First Captain of the U.S. Military Academy's Corps of Cadets.

Mari asked Hillary about knowing when she found her purpose, Nadya how to deal with menstruation rights when 80% of politicians are men, Simone about how women need to be twice as good as men for half the credit, and Muzoon about what advice she would give girls in hopeless positions around the world.

And Hunter? Oh he asked meanwhile asked about how bathroom rights for trans people.

Really relevant to the teen girls reading Teen Vogue, right?

Hunter is showing how girls can be, er, models. www.instagram.com/hunterschafer/ Inspiring!

I find there's something really unsettling in the way Hunter poses (I find a similar thing with Shon Fae). They look a bit threatening/menacing (maybe it's the way male models pose? Idk). Like I would not want to cross them. Hunter has a hint of Vincent Cassel imo, maybe that doesn't help (seen him play mainly violent and generally menacing characters!).
