Actually I quite like Misc for miscellaneous. Presumably for people who can't make up their minds on any one day, whether they are male, female, a cat or a panda.

I want Uni (for unicorn) or Spsnf (pronounced Spsniff) for Special snowflake.

I seem to recall there was some comment in the story about it should be as easy as marital status name change?

"In theory, updating gender records should be as easy as changing marital status, he told the BBC."

Well, given that men don't have to do this, and go from being Mr Fred one day to being Mr Fred the next, whilst their new wives can get in a total mess with passports, flights and hotel room bookings for the honeymoon etc etc --- it just sounds (as usual), that someone is assuming that it's all peachy and easy-peasy for laydees, but specially complicated and difficult and stressful for trans folk.

Of course, I'm all annoyed because since I got the PhD and started used Dr Somedyke on my bank account, I'm all gender-neutral anyway, so won't have the chance to choose an exciting new title...................

Or perhaps I should be Dr Miscellaneous, which makes me sound like a superhero who collects oddments. What would my superpowers be????

ROFL! Yes, that's definitely from someone who's never had to deal with that sort of thing.

I've never changed marital status or name, yet I still have problems with my title on things like bank accounts, just because I'm a woman, with children, and have a joint account/house with a man!

I see Peter Tatchell has come out and said he is worried that the array of titles will risk attracting ridicule.

So what with that and India Willoughby claiming the wrong sort of transwomen give trans a bad name, we are finally seeing the result of what a hopelessly self serving ideology this is.
