is that I suddenly became aware of the Feminism/women's rights threads, after everyone started referencing them in defence of MN.

A bit Blush that its taken 5 years of nearly daily MN abuse to get here...but I thought I should say hello before jumping in with both feet....

Hello Filly :)

Wonders if Filly is actually Y AB

Damn, I've been rumbled. Yes, U am Y AB and have name-changed and will now post something about skiing with a baby, and then an entirely unrelated post about how the new SJP film proves that Jeremy Clarkson is wonderful, so that I can then 'quote' these foolish empty-headed MN wimmin and prove that I am insufferable I did my research properly....

Hello Fillybuster! Welcome to the topic.

It has only been around since March last year so it's not actually 5 whole years of not noticing it.

I love the way everyone on the YAB thread is referring to the Feminism topic as if it is A Good Thing, rather than being somewhere scary where people will shout at you for shaving your legs.
(We don't shout at people for that, anyone is welcome to do whatever they want with their legs, but it is the popular image.)

Thanks for the welcome....I've been wrapped up in Ante/Post Natal threads with crap titles for most of the past 14 months which explains a lot. only venturing out into the fun world of AIBU now and again for a break.

I wasn't sure if the natives were friendly, so thought I should introduce myself before offending someone (I'm sure I will sooner or later) :)

We are friendlier than our fearsome reputation suggests.

There's also a Feminist Chat Thread which is good for general chitchat about random stuff as well as nattering about feminism-related stuff that doesn't quite feel like it deserves a whole thread.

I do have hairy legs but I don't mind if you haven't.

My legs are a veritable thatch, but only because I'm too lazy to do anything about them once the weather starts to turn chilly, and a combination of knee boots and tights covers the worst.

Due to my predilection for sleeveless dresses, my under-arms are relatively presentable and are an indictment of my inability to free myself from the oppressive yoke of conformity within our patriarchal and image-led society :)
