Periods have changed with implant

I had a baby 5 months ago, and had the implant inserted about 1 month ago. Never had it before. Was on cerazette for 10years before I had my first child. Have been off contraception for 3 years until now.
On the pill my period stopped completely. When I had a break from it to have my children, my periods were 3 days long, every 28-34 days. My first period after the implant was 14 days long. It ended 14 days ago, and I seem to be starting bleeding again already 😩

Is there a chance this will settle down? I want it back to being shorter and normal frequency. I'd rather go back on the pill and have no periods compared to this 😔 anyone had simar experience, should I give it more time to settle down?

Eek! It's been fine for me does cause more bleeding for some people, which suggests it might not be for you, but I don't know whether it might settle to normal after a start like this - I would contact your provider ASAP to ask.

When I had it put in the man said in 20% of women it can cause worse/heavier periods and in that case he'd ask that id try it for a few months and then last resort having it removed. I thought maybe as I'm not that long post-birth maybe hormones haven't settled from that yet, and maybe it will get normal in a month or 2? 🤞😩 Was helping it would be like the pill and I wouldn't get them at all

It might settle down in the first 3 or 4 months. If not then do go back to the doctor.

When I got the implant put in I bled continuously, all day every day, for over a year. Much lighter flow than a normal period so I didn't end up anaemic or anything, but ugh it was so annoying. When I finally went to the doctor she prescribed the pill (normal combined contraceptive pill) to take in addition to the implant, just to regulate my bleeding. She said it was completely safe. (This was a GP with extra specialism in female reproductive health).
I'm in a different area now though and my new GP has never heard of this. I'm very grumpy at the thought of having to put up with constant bleeding for the next 6 months until the implant is due to come out- particularly as the last few days have been properly heavy!

I hope yours settles down (in many women it stops their periods completely) or that your doctor finds a solution that works for you.

My implant took months to settle down . It does eventually but it took awhile .

I bled for 14 days or so with my first implant then had another period fairly soon after then nothing for over a year. It takes a while to settle down but I'm on my third one now with minimal periods so persevere with it, it will get better!
