Colson whitehead under ground railroad. He brought out another book knickel boys and I just can't bring myself to read it.

Room- I started it and just knew I'd be thoroughly depressed by this book so shelved it.

Tess of the d'Urbevilles
Captain Corelli's Mandolin

Dani Atkins’ books. Made the mistake of reading one whilst DH was in hospital. Cried for half the day.

I have just read Cilka's Journey and sobbed nearly all the way through.

Jostein Garder's Through a Glass Darkly broke me and I was on a plane reading it.

Adolphus Tips makes me cry and Goodnight Mr Tom when he calls him dad

One Child by Torey Hayden. I own all of her older books but haven't been able to read them since DD13 was born. Utterly heartbreaking stories.

And I managed to finish Room OP, and I was ugly crying by the end.

The Lovely Bones made me cry. I read it in coffee shops and on public transport and had 2 or 3 people approach me to tell me how they were emotionally affected by it too.

Why is it they're such good books though! I loved A Thousand Splendid Suns and kite runner. He's such a fantastic writer but both such harrowing reads

A Little Life for me too. I spent one Sunday afternoon sobbing my heart out, when DH came upstairs and found me he seriously thought someone had died I was in such a state. That book totally floored me, I couldn't read for weeks after.

The Fault In Our Stars - I can't read it any more because I ugly cry.

I'm currently reading Love, Interrupted by Simon Thomas, it's the story of his widowhood. I recognise so much of his pain so it is a hard read, but good knowing I'm not alone.

I find Captain Corelli's Mandolin unreadable so couldn't say if it breaks your heart Grin

Goodnight Mr Tom had been my favourite book since I was a child and I cried every time.

The green mile and My sister's keeper had me sobbing.

The Maze Runner, the last one in the series was awful.
