Is there a holiday read thread?

Apologies if this has been done to death but I'm looking for something to read on holiday next week.

Criteria:
Light but not too light IYSWIM
nothing murdery
No chick lit

I would love a page turner, but it's ages since I read a book I couldn't wait to get back to.

Recently I've liked Gone Girl (though didn't finish it as life got in the way) Poisonwood Bible and This Thing of Darkness.

Any suggestions?

Oh and nothing about children dying or soppy love stories where someone gets a life threatening illness.

And no concentration camps.

Tigers in Red Weather by Liza Klaussman (currently choice on Richard and Judy)
Cutting for Stone, Abraham Verghese
And currently reading Melting the Snow on Hester Street by Daisy Waugh (set early 20th Century decades in NYC), which was slow to start but now halfway has picked up and is quite gripping.

How about The Innocents by Francesca Segal? It was the MN bookclub choice last month, and I enjoyed reading it very much. It's a modern take on The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton, which I also enjoyed. Not chick-lit(ty), it's a good read, suitable to take on holiday.
