Gallbladder diet

I've found myself in the unfortunate position of having to restrict my diet due to gallbladder problems.

I need to eat very low fat, but am lost at what sort of things to eat, particularly for breakfast, lunch and snacks. So ironically carbs and sugars aren't issues (tho I don't see these as necessarily good replacements), but fat is def the problem. So no cheese, cakes, butter, red meat, biscuits, eggs. Sob! It's making me sad and I eat the same stuff day after day. Yog, fruit, soup, fish.

Are you on the list to get it removed? I had my GB out by keyhole surgery this year and it's the best thing I ever did.

In the months leading up to it I basically ate fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch, and chicken brown rice veg for dinner - I was miserable.

GB is gone now and digestion is completely back to normal and I'm back on the cheese!

I ate a lot of chicken & salsa sandwiches.

In fact I ate an awful lot of chicken. Remember buying cooked chicken from the supermarket and having that for lunch!

I found if a product said it was 3% fat or less it wouldn’t set off an attack, 3%-4% may or may not set off an attack, over 4% was a big no.

Eat lean do cheese. It's saved me from total boredom. Also I eat boiled sweets to cheer me up. I can't even manage fish but am OK with lean ham. I'm having a lot of baked potatoes.

Thank you, Ok, really low fat cheese. I thought about quorn sausages as an alternative. But breakfasts are just so limited. As are lunches and snacks.

Seeing consultant next week to go on waiting list, but have a feeling it might be a long old road. Boiled sweets is good plan.

I had chilli con quorn this week that led to moderate pain but not a full attack so not sure about it yet. I've got a tin of spam lite to try when I'm brave enough. I had a reduced fat mattesons sausage over four days which didn't set me off too much.

I don't eat breakfast really. There was a sad day when DH brought me a cinnamon bagel with strong cheddar reduced fat spread, but I ate it anyway for the sake of variety...

Snacks... sunbites and snackajacks. It really is very depressing but fear of pain is greater.
