It wasn’t a cream cake, it wasn’t chocolate, I came in from work and ate a large amount of shredded, yes tasteless shreddies, yet when I can in the could have been like a drug. They tasted amazing and I wanted quantity.

I have no idea why. I realised at the time I would regret it. Yet I was thinking sod it they’re great. What’s wrong with me?! Thought I would share my scariness.

Is your period due? I crave carbs in the run up to mine.

Did the same with 3 bowls of cherrios yesterday, beginning to think I have a serious binge eating problem. I can never have just one

No and absolutely I have always experienced this just before my period but I’m currently in the “ovulation” phase

The trick is to not let yourself get that hungry in the first place.
Were you very hungry?

I had had lunch but I was really hungry prior but not because I hadn’t had breakfast - I had but that was at 6 am! So by two pm when I had lunch I was starving. Then had quite a lot of work to do but came home and raided the cereal.

I’m feeling quite anxious as of late wondering if that’s effecting things too.

Cereal is just sugar

Add more protein and fat to your diet, you won't have spikes in your blood sugar and then crave sugary rubbish

Well I had a bagel with full fat cream cheese and a milk shake (low sugar) think that would have worsened the cravings? Breakfast was coffee with skimmed milk and plain porridge.

Halfwit think that was too much. I would have thought shreddies wouldn’t be too bad but I know myself and carbs are my downfall, I’m not saying carbsa are bad per se but I’m very good at overeating them!

Oh sugar content per 40 gram serving (my skinny 5 yr old has an 80 g serving) 11 g sugar and 34 g carbs. I think for me it doesn’t matter if sugar is added or not - I love carbs at certain times!

Your CNS is fuelled by carbs, so it makes sense that you crave them when you're anxious. Don't ask for the science behind that as I can't bloody remember now, but it was explained to me by my psychiatrist (I think) years ago. It might be worth looking into if you're interested in getting "answers".

I'm a very good over-eater of carbs myself, so I understand the feeling.

Bramrang have you managed to overcome the carb cravings? I am presuming you are empathising with the anxiety and Possibly associated carb cravings? In that moment nothing could stop me. Shameful I can hold down a decent job, manage children, a family but yet can devour cereal like a bulldozer truck and think why on earth did I do that!

I haven't, but I'm doing well at avoiding binges by actually eating enough carbs throughout the day. Some people have had success going low-carb high fat to counteract the cravings but that just didn't work for me. Potatoes, sweet potatoes and fruit (mainly bananas) have been my saviour so far. It still happens sometimes, but usually when I let myself get too hungry.

I only ever binge when I'm alone, do you?

Yes bramrang always alone and find I actually enjoy food less when with others (There’s a difference between enjoying food and bingeing which I know you will relate to). Hmm interesting I don’t know which way to go. The not getting too hungry will be helpful yet I have found that snack regularly advice y helpful as can spend the whole day snacking, I’m quite a habit forming person. Thanks again for your support

It could have been SO much worse OP

You had a hefty amount of calcium and you had relatively low sugar (compared with traditional binge food) and very low fat food.
