Slimming world, weight watchers, or just calorie counting???

Which, in your opinion is the best way to lose weight?
I have 1.5 stone to lose so not a huge amount but I want to fit comfortably in my clothes again.
Also I'm not a lover of cooking so tend to stick to quick and easy dinners!

I’m no expert (otherwise I wouldn’t still have 2 stone to lose) but I have tried WW, SW and calorie counting. Lost 3.5 stone with WW but put it back on after having kids. Lost 2 with SW. going to try to lose 2 with calorie counting.

I’ve been following a trainer called James Smith on Facebook. He swears a lot but talks a lot of sense. He basically says that we don’t want to lose weight, we want to lose fat. To do this we just need to be in a calorie deficit each day. Any of the plans- WW, SW etc will work if we end up in calorie deficit. That makes sense to me but find it easier said than done as I love to eat! Going to try counting calories using MY Fitness Pal and see how I get on!

Thanks for the reply, I'll look up James Smith on Facebook.
I'm a bit wary of signing up to either SW or WW as I think they will be a huge change compared to my eating habits at present and it might be too hard for me to adapt, if that makes sense? I really don't want to give up or fail. So I'm thinking maybe I'll try calorie counting and see how I get on with that.

Good luck with losing 2 stone Anxiouslady.

Ive lost 4 1/2 stone with SW (although not so much after Christmas!)
If I'm honest though, I don't think SW is what made the difference, as in the plan itself. It was that I was in the right frame of mind, probably for the first time ever. I could likely have lost the same at WW or eating only steak or whatever 😜

Good luck!

I have done sw for years on and off. To me the main issues with it are, it positively encourages big portions and they do a lot if "fake" foods, like cakes made of weetabix and frosting made of sugar free jelly and quark. This is fine while you follow it religiously but it doesn't retrain your frame of mind, for example that cake should be a very occasional treat and there is no need to eat huge amounts.
Can't speak for the other two!

I lost 4 stone through calorie counting 2 years ago (getting my bri from obese to healthy) and have put about half a stone back on from my lowest after stopping, but it has changed my mindset entirely, which is why I've managed to maintain (almost). Just trying to work out the best way of getting that half stone back off, think carbs will be out for the next couple of months!

More Life is a good programme if they do it in your area, I was offered that on the NHS, all about calorie counting and life change. I enjoyed it but as soon as you loose 5% body fat they discharge you and it makes their results look good.

Most people I met had done Slimming world and weight watchers and same old story = once they left it all went back on.

I tend to do calorie counting but hit a wall at the moment and can't get motivated again. I quite liked seeing a group weekly and getting weighed.

I don't think there is a huge difference between SW and WW, I've always done WW and it works to a point.

I've been in goal weight for over a year now, but I do still "point" to an extent (which is a bit like counting calories anyway).

Apparently using my fitness pal is a good way as well.

Calorie Counting can and does work up to a point. A lot of it depends on the sort of person you are. For some people it' s no bother at all. For others there' s nothing worse and it' s just one big hassle. It depends on the sort of person you are and only you can answer that.
As for WW and SW, they' re basically the same. You can sometimes get free trials which would be a good way of trying them out first.
The secret to losing and maintaining weight is simple.

I like WW because you can eat everything. It’s just really about portion control
