Unreasonably disappointed by weight loss this week

I'm doing weight watchers. I don't have a large amount to lose (maybe 9-10 lb. After putting on, then stay the same I religiously followed the plan this week. I lost 1lb. I'm disappointed even though I know rationally any loss is good and a 1lb loss when I don't have much to lose is good.

please help me get some perspective and tell me not to go and eat a large piece of cake or two.

I really feel for you. Flowers

You'll have good weeks and bad. Keep up the good work and you'll get it off. The first week is the hardest and you've gotten through it.

It probably means that you've actually lost fat as opposed to water. One pound is still a loss - well done.

Go to the shops and hold a pound of lard in your hand then pat yourself on the back!

Well done!

Yeah, one pound disappoints me too. I can lose at least that just having a big poo Grin

Slimming clubs make their money by people losing a bit, gaining a bit then losing a bit again. Then returning after putting the whole lot, plus more back on again when they give up the classes. You've paid at least £15 to lose that single pound, plus anything you may have shelled out on diet food.

Would you be ok about gaining 'only a pound'? Smile

Weight is a funny old thing. I've lost a couple of stone over the past months, and have been fairly consistent in my calorie intake and amount of exercise. I weigh myself every day - sometimes I lost nothing in a week, sometimes I lost 3lb in a week. You need to look at the long-term picture, but I know it's frustrating!

@SingaSong12, are you exercising too?

1lb is very good if you only have 10lb to lose.

A watched kettle never boils.

I think you may be trying too hard OP and because you are making such an enormous effort, thats why you got "unreasonably disappointed" when results don't reflect that.

It might be counter-intuitive (I get to use that word!) but you could actually relax some of your attitudes and focus around your diet (still eating healthily but not overeating) and put them into other things in life for some balance? Or a more complete, holistic picture of taking care of yourself and loving yourself?

Then its all part of life's rich tapestry and you can take the inevitable ups and downs with weight loss / healthier eating and put them into perspective. Rather than going off the rails in either direction ...
