Does eliminating wheat make you fart?!

I've had a go at trying to cut out wheat from my diet over the past week. Some friends have said it's helped cut out bloating and they feel much better for it. I think over the whole week I've had one wholemeal pitta and a slice of seeded bread as far as wheat goes.
And I am farting like an absolute trooper!!
I've even got trapped wind which is horrid and all I want to do is lay on my side and let rip. Delightful, obviously, and dh is certainly one lucky fella come bed-time!
I though it was sposed to cut all the excess wind out, not increase it! I'm a veggie so eat loads of fruit and veg and pulses but don't usually suffer from wind - not to this extent, anyway!
Shall I give it more time or just give up?

i'm not relly sure, i though you would have less wind. perhaps its just a period of detox and you will be fine in a few days.
to compensate have you started eating more of anything else or any new foods? it could be these that are causing the wind.
soya is one on the worst causes of wind!

Everything gives me wind at the moment .
Lots of fruit and veg and pulses are bound to have this effect. Perhaps the bread was soaking it up before? Are you eating more of this kind of thing to make up for the loss of wheat products?

Take it as a Sign, and go and have a sandwich.

A friend of mine has just been diagnosed as wheat intolerant and that that was the cause of her having such problems with bloatedness and and inability to lose weight.

Since she has cut wheat out, she says she has been farting for Scotland. She's also finally started to lose weight. (Interestingly, she says the only time previously that she managed to lose weight was on Atkins - and of course that would have had the side effect of cutting out the wheat).

She also had colonic irrigation and says that she's stopped suffering from constipation and is much more regualr - but maybe that is more information than you wanted to know!

What are you replacing wheat products with Moomin? Is it more of what you normally eat or a different kind of carbohydrate? You might be eating more dairy to fill you up (which makes me incredibly windy). It could just be than any change in you diet will make you windy until your digestive system gets used to it.

Buy squeaky shoes and blame the noise on them.

I've been eating more potatoes and I've also bought some wheat-free pasta but haven't tried it yet. I don't eat an awful lot of bread anyway but I do eat loads of pasta so I just wondered if it would make a difference. A couple of my friends have said what gloworm said, about it being a period of detox. But I won't have any friends left at this rate!
JanZ - your comments about your friend were very interesting. I have a bit of a struggle with my weight in that I've maintained my current weight for ages but it's about 2st more than I'd like. I hate dieting though because I don't actually eat much 'crap' at all - my diet is very healthy but I'm just greedy and I don't exercise enough, so the old exercise bike is back on the agenda this week.
Am STILL farting like billio. I've got work tomorrow but as I work with 11 to 16 year olds, the smell of lingering farts isn't exactly alien in the workplace! Jeez...
