Weight Watchers or Slimming World for a novice????

Right, I need to get myself in hand. I have an 11 month old, I have 2 stone to loose and am back to work in 2 months, I want it gone by then. I have never been overweight in my life and am so disappointed with myself, it's starting to get me down. I can't fit into any of my clothes and my huge arse makes my feel like I being followed around by another person all day.

I am trying to decide between Weight Watchers or Slimming World. I have tried My Fitness Pal but found it confusing as things like one piece of brown toast seemed to have a range of different calorie counts. I also mainly cook from scratch so got confused as to how I record/track that.

I plan to do circuits 2/3 times a week and get back to reformer pilates. I think my problem is portion control as I eat relatively healthily.

I like to be able to have a drink, I like pasta. I would prefer to do everything online and keep track with an app and am not that interested in going to meetings.

Does anyone have a view and what would be best for me?

If you cook from scratch a lot slimming world is easy to do. It focuses on cooking healthy filling foods. I've lost almost 3 stone in 8 months while breastfeeding.

A lot of people advise you to go the class and join as then you get the diet explained to you and the books. You can then do it on line.

MFP has a barcode scanner, so scan the bread you bought at get the exact number of calories.

I've done both and WW is way better. I do it online, I love the app, I don't go to groups. It's really easy to follow. I'm losing weight slowly but I'm living a little too ;-) so I am happy this way. I can fall off the wagon for a few days and have no trouble getting back on it.

SW was really hard for me and needed a lot of organising and planning. Always had to make sure I had the "allowed" foods in at all times or there was nothing to eat! WW I eat whatever is in the house and just count it. My husband does it too and finds it easy.

I would never go back to SW and there was a time when I was positively evangelical about it. Everyone I know who did SW put the weight back on. I literally know no one who lost weight and kept it off for longer than about 6 months. I know several people who lost a lot of weight with WW and have maintained their weight loss for years.

I did SW a little over a year and a half ago, very easy to follow, especially if you like cooking. Lost 4.5 stone.

A little over a year and a half later (now), I have put 4 stone back on by falling off the wagon and just not realising. I don't know anyone who has followed SW and managed to keep the weight off.

Was about to post this exact question. People have confirmed my thoughts, I'm not organised enough nor do I cook properly enough for SW! Will go back with WW where I know I can have a slice of cake for dinner & just count the points Grin

Defo weight watchers for me. I joined after my 2nd child and had 2 1/2 stone to lose. Loved the discipline of points and had the freedom to fresh cook or buy meals to suit lack of time. Now at goal, and keeping it with the no count plan. Dont count anymore just eat helathy food from the no count list when it suits. It has 2 options and suited me at different times of my weight loss journey. Also the new app they have is amazing....it does all the work......literally for you. Great supportive meetings.

MFP is easy - just weigh stuff! Then things you cook regularly can be saved as meals ... I've been doing it for over a year and it works.
