I have put on 2 stone in the last year and am feeling low and depressed about it. So tomorrow my weightless journey starts. If anyone wants to join me you are very welcome.

Ideally I would like to lose 2.5 stone but am going to go for a pound a week so I don't get too low about not losing more.

Am also going to only weigh myself weekly.

All support and advice welcome.

I'll join you Pamelaaa
I lost 46lbs last year for my wedding, which I've kept off but TTC and looking to lose another 7lbs.
I've been using a Fitbit to measure all the calories I burn then I eat 500-1000kcals less. It really has been working for me, I still have a takeaway every weekend too.

Hi pamelaa (love the name!) I'll join you! I've got to get on top of this weight loss thing! I need to lose at least 1.5 stone, although ideally 2! It doesn't seem like such a massive amount but it feels like such a big task to me....and would make such a big difference to my life!

I'm going to try and follow weight watchers again as I find it easy. I'm also going to attempt 30 day shred, I got to about day 9 last time and was enjoying it, just need to keep up the motivation!

I agree about the not stressing over losing too much too quickly, I really need to think of this as a long term plan.

Good luck for a good start tomorrow!

I'd like to join, my new year's resolution this year was to lose 3 stone, so far I've put weight onShock

I plan to follow a low fat/low carb diet with no alcohol or sugar.

I'll weigh in weekly and happy to share my progress.

Hi everyone who wants to join.

Have enjoyed my last day before the diet starts. Am going to be drinking lots of water and also going for the low carb / low cal approach. Am also going to try and do some exercise even if it is a walk every day. We are going away in a couple of weeks and so will need to be careful while we are on holiday. Last summer I was at my lowest and managed not to put anything on while we were on holiday so am hoping for the same this time. Might also try and use the hotel gym!

Please can I join you?

I started a very embarrassing thread in chat about a medical issue I'm having due to my weight. My lightbulb moment has occurred and I need to do this. I have much more to lose though but I'd appreciate the support.

Not 100% sure on how much I weigh as my first job tomorrow needs to be to buy some scales. The last lot are broken. :-)

Teddy I read your thread, and can totally empathise with you, infact it was one of the 10 Reasons to Lose Weight that I have written down in my little black book.

I'm going to get mfp set up and think about c25k once the children are back at school.

Thank you girlsonfilm

Ok I've weighed myself and it's a hefty 16st 5lb and Monday will become my weigh day. It might keep me on track over the weekends because I know it's looming and I don't have the weekdays afterwards to be good and make up for treats!

Best of luck everyone :-)

Can I join in please, I am so cross with myself - last year managed to lose over 3 stone and have pretty much put it all back on. Admittedly not been the easiest of years but still, no excuse!!

So today I have been for a 30 minute PT session, mainly stretching just getting me back into the habit, have been having a PT session twice a week for the last few months but had recently stopped due to being poorly and going away! I was hoping it would kick start me into healthy eating but unfortunately not!

Last time I lost the weight I used the Hairy dieters cook book a lot, so I have got them out again and we are having the spicy pork for tea.

So far so good.....

So what sort of a day have you all had?

I have been pretty good. I have been trying to drink more water and have certainly succeeded with that.
Struggling tonight with chocolate cravings but I am trying to distract myself and drink more water instead!!

Went shopping today but felt too fed up with my weight to buy anything. I really want to shift this weight and feel better about myself again!!

I am struggling for something sweet which is bizarre as I normally don't snack on sweet stuff. Think its because I know I can't have it. Have made do with a cup of tea and a few grapes.

So far so good today, cereal for breakfast - 30g didn't look that much in the bowl but told myself its a breakfast not a main meal and surprisingly got me through till about 2:30 when I started to get hungry but decided I didn't want to eat lunch then as we have dinner at 6, so ate an apple and had a few strawberries and grapes. Dinner was nice, I made the spicy pork and rice dish from Hairy dieters but my DC are fussy and wont eat peppers so I just add my own version of veg into it and they devour it. Nice and easy dish that only takes 1 saucepan and about 40 mins to prepare and cook.

Have already decided on what's for dinner tomorrow night, we are having salmon and noodles with broccoli and baby corn. Probably have a ham salad for lunch.

Anyone got any delicious recipes they are will to share? Would be gratefully received!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Day 1 almost over and successful Grin

I'll join you (if that's okay!). Like fishfortea I'm trying to undo the unhealthy eating which has led me to put back on a lot of the weight that I had lost. Cross with myself, but hoping to make it work this time, even if the journey is a long one.

I'm not really weighing myself though. I have some clothes that don't fit, but I know they look good at my 'ideal' weight, so I've hung them visibly in the wardrobe and will try something on every couple of weeks. I know that 14 days won't make a massive difference to my size, but the clothes not fitting will be a good motivation. Maybe I'll buy some scales as well.

The other thing I've done is to start a savings pot. Every time I don't buy something to scoff, I'm putting the money in the pot, and I'll use this to buy some other treats along the way. I posted on here last week about this, and the horror of realising just how much 'loose change' I use to buy chocolate, cake, crisps etc - it really mounts up in the post (and on my hips!).

I've been a reformed character for the last week, but there's a long way to go. The pattern at the moment is:
Breakfast - porridge made with water and a small splash of milk, and either a sprinkle of berries or a teaspoon of honey. Out of curiosity, I weighed the dry oats before making it this morning and it came to about 30g, so probably about the right amount.
Lunch - not buying lunch at work any more. I can control content and portions of packed lunches more easily, and avoid the temptation to buy extras. Today, a big box of green salad, and some low-cal dressing, some seeds sprinkled on top. A satsuma, and a Special K cereal bar which I might keep for a snack later
Dinner - family mealtime, so I'm reducing my portion size, and loading the plate with veggies or salad so that it looks like a bigger meal. Trying to avoid too much for dessert, but I made cake with the DCs yesterday so I will eat some of that. I'm sure some of the evening meals will raise my calorie count, but I hope to bring in a good range of healthy things too. Might look at the Hairy Dieters
Drinks - ditched the lattes, cappuccino etc in favour of teas, herbal teas, and the occasional 'highlights' hot chocolate. One of those sachets takes the edge off the evening chocolate munchy cravings.

Good luck everyone. I hope things are going well.

How did everyone get on today?

Report
fishfortea · 12/08/2015 10:39

I managed to eat healthily and even turned down my favourite biscuit whilst out at my craft group last night!

I am hoping for another good day today, Spag bol for tea, probably get a home made soup out of freezer for lunch seeing as the weather is pants today!

I have my PT session in an hr so that normally motivates me for the day. Fingers crossed it gives me the oomph I need for this afternoon - taking DD school shoe shopping - normally a nightmare and could drive anyone to distraction. (very heavy on shoes and incredibly wide feet!)

Hope everyone is having a good day.

May I join you ladies? My DD turned 6m today so I need to stop using baby weight as an excuse!! I'm 8kg heavier than when I fell pregnant and all my mummy friends seem to have lots the weight so easily!!! It's just not happened for me, so regretfully, I've got to go on a proper diet Hmm

TeddyBear5 · 12/08/2015 18:25

Hi mimosa

I've had a reasonably good couple of days. I think distraction is my biggest technique right now. I also have a cup of tea when I feel the munchies setting in and that helps too. I've been trying to cut portion sizes too, it's surprising how little food it takes to stop the hunger pangs.

Fingers crossed it's working, I'm looking forward to weigh in on Monday! Grin

Start of another day, 3 days of healthy eating so far and hopefully today will be another.

PT session was tough yesterday but felt good after. Oh and school shoe shopping trip was not nearly as stressful as I had feared!

Just wondering what others are eating, could really do with some ideas.

workatemylife · 13/08/2015 15:00

Well done so far folks!

I caved last night and had two scoops of ice-cream after dinner. Could have been worse, but I was annoyed with myself after because it wasn't that I particularly wanted to eat it - I just didn't want to sit and watch the DCs eating theirs with an empty bowl in front of me! Anyway, no point in moaning.I have a tendency to think that once I've given in to temptation then that's the plan ruined, whereas, being sensible about it, have one treat isn't going to cause any problems at all, if that's the only one I have.

I logged meals on MFP for a couple of days just to see how it all looked. Not too bad, although MFP reckons on a one pound per week weight loss, and I was thinking of half a stone per month as a rough target. That's a bit disheartening if it is going to take a lot longer to reach the goal. I probably need to take more exercise, although a PT would probably say I need to take 'some' exercise!

Recommendations about what to eat would be nice fish. I've posted a basic summary of what I'm up to above - lots of salads and vegetables to make the plate look nice and full, but basically eating what the rest of the family eats. We've had baked fish a couple of times, and last night lasagne, but I was careful about portion size. I've had a few Special K or Alpen low calorie cereal bars to cover those moment when I feel like snacking but without a chocolate bar. I'm sure I'll get bored with those soon though. What do you guys do if you feel like nibbling on something.

Day 5! Really struggled last night but thankfully a few grapes later I was okish! I woke up this morning absolutely starving.

Shreddies for breakfast, homemade veg soup for lunch and for dinner as its just me I will have leftover bacon joint, chicken in a little mayo with a small jacket potato and salad.

The test will be this week and no alcohol, not that I drank that much but if I was going to drink any its a Fri/Sat evening!
