Healthy Food confusion,

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like they just don't know what to eat anymore. I was comparing the nutritional label (front of pack)on white and whole meal bread, the calories, fat salt etc were almost the same although I know whole meal would contain more fibre. There are certain cereals which are advertised as being healthy but contain lots of sugar. Diet drinks vs regular and low fat spreads vs real butter and the list goes on....

Am I the only one who is confused?

I am totally with you, I have ready so many different diet plans/books that I am so confused. Is it better to have butter or margarine, sweeteners or real sugar, follow a low carb diet or avoid red meat, everything in moderation or don't ban anything or complete abstinence from sugar as it is addictive?
I am Confused

The only thing I have managed to convince myself about is that dieting does not work, but I don't know what does Sad

No, you are not the only one.

I'm mostly going with trying to avoid processed food and anything that sounds more like a chemical than a food ingredient. Eat mainly stuff that nobody spends money marketing - meat, fish, eggs, whole grains, fruit and veg.

I'm sold on sugar being addictive though, I can do well avoiding it for ages then gave a total binge, when I know I'm eating crap with no nutritional value. I need a 12 step program for sweeties Blush

Meals not grazing

The least processed food you can manage
if it has more than ten ingredients, leave it on the shelf. If it has ingredients you do not understand, leave it on the shelf

Lots of water

As little sugar as you can manage
