I had a baby a few months and have to loose about a stone before going back to work in July as I don't fit into my work clothes!! I have never dieted or exercised so have no idea where to start. Anyone got any tips for easy bit effective exercise? I've only ever been to a gym a few times and hated it and and obv a bit hard to go rubbing etc when looking after baby fill time, any ideas?,

Do you have a partner? Running is a very time efficient way of getting fit. The Couch to 5k eases you in gently and you only need half an hour 3 times a week. I used to go after I'd put the dc to bed.

However,I find weight loss is more dependent on diet than exercise. A stone off by July is very do-able though.

Diet and excercise combined are greater than the sum of their parts.

I've recently got my arse in gear and finally decided that I definitely want to lose weight. I'm not a fit person at all.
I downloaded a free app on my phone that counts calories - it's called myfitnesspal. I've lost 11 pounds so far using it. It's taken eight weeks.
Because I feel a bit more comfortable in my skin having lost a little weight, iv started to exercise a little more - nothing too much. Mainly more walking but I'm working myself up and have done a couple of jogs. (Which is a big thing for me personally)
Just wanted to say that the app might be worth a try.
It's really helped me.

Just find an activity you enjoy and do more of it. What have you enjoyed in the past? Dancing, team sports, outdoor pursuits, playing on the Wii..?

None of the above! I'm the most unsporty person ever. I can't even swim!

Dancing? Roller-blading? Ice-skating? Walking?

I'm un sporty too.
However, when I'm home alone, I do quite like putting on some funky music and dancing around in a fashion that in actual fact can not be described as dancing at all.
It gets my heart rate going so I call it exercise!
Also, daft as it sounds, I now take things upstairs when I come across them rather than piling them up so I tend to do three/four trips as opposed to one.
This may not sound like much at all but for someone who doesn't "do" exercise it's helping a lot.
