Help me - i need to lose 3 stone by July otherwise people will run away screaming. Am not actually joking. All diet tips please, ie ones that WORK and don't just involve " eat less, move more" thank you.

Hi slippy I have the same goal as you. I am buying the hairy dieters book on thursday and devising a meal plan from that. In regards to excercise am going to do more walking and toning excercises once DS is in bed.

If your looking for a buddy to keep you motivated I'd like to volunteer. Good luck.

Sorry to be pessimistic but that's over 3lb a week. Ok for the first couple of weeks but not easy for 3 months. It's too fast for that amount of weight loss. Aim for 2 stone and be happy if you achieve that or more.

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw Tue 26-Mar-13 06:29:10

Good point Ilovesun I will do that.

Aldwick Tue 26-Mar-13 06:39:01

I'm trying to do the same with the same goal - I started ten days ago and have lost 4lbs but there is a loooong way to go yet.

I'm basically just trying to stop all my bad habits - eating children's leftovers, automatically opening the fridge to pick at something every time I go in the kitchen and cutting out my post bedtime glass of wine and chocolate. Have also upped my water drinking.

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw Tue 26-Mar-13 08:24:47

Hi Aldwick well done that's a great start I have very similar bad habits to you. I will be starting properly on Monday I plan to buy more fruit and less treats so if I want to snack it will have to be fruit. Up water intake, stick to a healthy meal plan and scrape left overs straight in to the bin.

I need to do this as I will be starting to look for my wedding dress in june.

I'll join you all. I have a beach holiday in July too. Am currently 13st 4lb and would like to be 10st 10lbs by then.

Going to try running and 30 day shred as well as my fitness pal.

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw Tue 26-Mar-13 09:13:03

Hi Tickle sounds like a good goal. Will be good to have some weight loss buddies to keep me motivated.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday Tue 26-Mar-13 09:19:01

Excellent grin so in the age old diet tradition, shall we start tomorrow?

BecauseImWorthIt Tue 26-Mar-13 09:23:23

I will be starting the next Low Carb Bootcamp on 29 April, which will run for 10 weeks, taking you nicely into July. Very definitely not 'eat less/move more' as we know that doesn't work!

BecauseImWorthIt Tue 26-Mar-13 09:24:43

Oh, and it's possible to lose 2 stones in that period of time. (Plus you've got a month before we start!)

Aldwick Tue 26-Mar-13 09:31:41

I am questioning the wisdom of starting pre Easter and I also find it much harder to diet when the kids are off school but if I stay this weight - 12 12 (and only 5'2) it will be a total waste of money spent on a holiday because I will be miserable that yet again I have failed to get a grip on my weight.

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw Tue 26-Mar-13 09:49:35

I'm starting monday. I will be buy the hairy dieters book and get weighed on thursday as that's payday but I know I won't stick to it over the weekend. Don't want to set myself up for failure before I've even started. May start some light excercise over the next few days though. Will post current weight on thurs. Last time I was weighed I was 88.4 kg (begining of Feb) not sure what that is in stones and pounds.

Rachtoteach Tue 26-Mar-13 11:34:48

I'll join you all please! I have 28lb to lose by 22.6.13. Damn those malteser bunnies that have just caused me to need to burn 500 cals on treadmill tonight.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday Tue 26-Mar-13 11:53:34

Biwi, I don't do terribly well on the low carb as it makes me incredibly constipated blush

Aldwick, we are the same height. We can do it! Where are you going on holiday?

BecauseImWorthIt Tue 26-Mar-13 12:20:41

No reason why it should do, Tickle, if you get your carbs from veg/salad, eat plenty of fat and drink lots of water.

specialsubject Tue 26-Mar-13 14:12:48

you can't lose 3 stone in that time unless you are seriously guzzling now - if you are, then eating normally will mean you'll drop a lot of weight quickly and then go down to the usual 1lb a week that is the only sensible rate.

however if you only eat a bit too much and don't do enough exercise, it is simple to turn it round.

rapid weight loss means rapid expansion again.

ok, so that was eat less move more, which IS the only one that works long term. (basic science, although many people are good at ignoring that) Here are the requested tips:

if the kids leave lots, serve them less. They can always ask for more if they are still hungry. That way you get less waste and don't have the urge to finish it up as there will be nothing to bin.

don't buy sugary or fatty crap. Not there, doesn't get eaten.

eat your complex carbs to fill you up. I had porridge for breakfast today, lasts fine until lunch.

and finally, no-one else cares what you look like on holiday. (Or at any other time)

Aldwick Tue 26-Mar-13 15:14:19

Off to Spain and can't wait to see some sunshine! What about all of you?
I do in fact guzzle too much which is I'm sure why I've managed to lose 4lbs in such a short space of time. Fully prepared for the loss to slow down but at the moment it's good motivation. I'm really just going for the 'eating like a normal person not a pig' approach!

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw Tue 26-Mar-13 16:57:33

Hi Rach those bunnies are very naughty aren't they?

KatoPotato Tue 26-Mar-13 17:02:33

Everyone feel free to join us on the Motivational Thread

I've just had a malteaster bunny confessional, and we've got spare slots on the group spreadsheet!

Some great success stories there but all at 1-2lb loss per week over a year by eating less and moving more! I've lost 55lbs since last January.

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw Thu 28-Mar-13 18:07:36

Well I got my cook book today and then went to get weighed I'm 88.8kg which I think is 13st13lb. So pretty much what I thought. I'm determined this time and getting into the right mindset for monday.

Aldwick Thu 28-Mar-13 18:40:40

Good for you - make sure all Easter treats are consumed by the time you go to bed on Sunday and good luck for Monday! Let us know if there are any recipes you'd really recommend in there.

The above poster always gets deleted as spam so I wouldn't bother with the detox they quote

I found the 30 day shred combined with a low carb diet worked wonders. I have lost a stone so far since 03 march and I fell off the wagon for over a week so had to re-lose a fair chunk of that.

It seems to be working and I feel much better in myself

TheBrocoliIsStillRaw Fri 29-Mar-13 15:40:11

I will do Aldwick going to do my meal plan tonight.
