How do you beat the plateau?

I've lost 13lbs in 51 days. Unfortunately I seem to have plateaued in the past week. I was eating 1100 kcal a day, the past three days I've eaten 1400 each to try and boost my metabolism.

Does anyone know any good ways of getting past the plateau effect?

I'd say consistency even though that sounds boring, 13lbs in 51 days is excellent well done. I'm don't know how much you weigh but 1100 kcals sounds very little! I'd say 1400 is better but you might find the plateau veers you off course of being disciplined in your diet. Can you exercise? A good 30 minute power walk would help if you have the time. Also keep hydrated, make sure you are drinking 1.5-2l of water a day. Eat whole filling foods, try to avoid a lot of processed and low-fat products, I have found on a diet where I had smaller amounts of 'real' foods I was more successful than when I had lots of 'low fat' low sugar foods. Avoid fizzy drinks too! They were the worst, good luck!

How much do you weigh and how tall. 1100 cals is quite low.

If you are in the healthy weight zone could be that your body is becoming more efficient at working on less calories (starvation mode) hence the plateau. Are you coming up for TOTM?

Ideas - protein at each meal, enough fibre each day, cut out sugar and processed foods, drink stacks of water, cut out fizzy drinks and caffiene, exercise every day.

I'm 5 foot nothing, currently 13st5. I can't do much in the way of exercise, and use a powered wheelchair, which is why I'd been doing 1100.

Thanks for the ideas! I could really do with cutting out processed foods, and could do much better with fizzy drinks/caffeine.

Usually a change in exercise regime works but not sure what you would like to change to.
