I need some help please. If you picked a gold and cream wedding dress, how do you colour the actual wedding?

I've (not so) cleverly done this and now I'm having a bit of a panic...for example, the groom's suit, grey looks a bit like silver and doesn't work, blue feels a bit "Laura Ashley" and black is funerally. But blue might work. Suggestions welcome!

This isn't the exact dress, but mine is very similar. I'm thinking bridesmaids in cream/champagne colour with burgundy hints in the flowers/table decorations maybe, but my wedding is in the middle of summer in 30 degree heat so I'm not sure about such a dark colour!

Arghhh. What have I done??

Google "Canva". You can upload an image (use a close up of your dress for example) and it will give you a colour scheme to compliment the image. First pic attached is what it gave for your uploaded pic, the green may have come from the bush in the background though so do crop first.
I can see the "dark olive green" as a suit colour, bridesmaids in "beige" and "yellow green" accents on things, or for MOH.
But I don't know about brown suits (look fab on some men and awful on others) and matching flowers might be a nightmare, unless you went for whites/go unusual with succulents or something.

Or look for a colour scheme creator, there's loads of free ones online if you google. Will suggest colours that compliment the gold on your dress if you can select the right shade.
Without knowing the exact shade of gold it's hard to suggest any specific colours - sorry! Slight variations can make such a difference to what compliments.

However, I will say not to panic. If you've not got your heart set on a colour scheme, then finding something that matches the gold from your dress is likely to give you a really unique, sophisticated colour scheme that none of your guests are likely to have seen before.

You could always use the Navy for suits as you suggested, then match a colour scheme to the navy. 2nd and 3rd pics show gold and navy colour scheme and actually, I think it looks really nice. Never something I would have thought of though!

I lovvve both of those dresses. You'll both look amazing.

Both pics are stunning brides to be.

For the first wedding I would choose gold as the accent colour for the wedding or pale pink.

For the second I think pale lilac would be beautiful

My sister in law had a heavily gold embroidered and beaded dress. Groom wore navy . Adult bridesmaid was in a golden silk and little bridesmaids had cream silk bodice with tiny gold flowers and golden tulle skirts. Flowers were cream and lilac and it all worked really well

Thank you @grumpysausage - I'm so glad you do. I had such a fret about it that I even ended up showing my OH for his opinion!
I do wish a little bit that I'd gone for something more sophisticated like OP rather than the sort of dress a 10 year old girly girl might choose, but as my OH pointed out, I've been known to unironically wear DD's "jojo bows" and would look like I've borrowed my mothers clothes in anything "grown up".
My main fear now is the fact I look about 15 despite pushing 30 (teenager spots and all!) and it may appear that OH has stolen me from the nearest high school prom.

@loveprosecco pale pink and gold sounds beautiful too, never thought of that.
@schoolchauffer those bridesmaids dresses sound gorgeous, but then again I'm a sucker for tulle!

Really hope you find something that you love OP. Don't panic!

Thanks so much for commenting. I'm very excited! I'm warming to the navy idea and I've been on Pinterest (new fave place) for inspiration. I think we're going to go with burgundy accents, but like the pic below but less lairy, which matches our "wine" theme. Part of the wedding is in a vineyard!

Tiredmum teal is another idea! What colour was your DH suit?

This is my dress and we’re going for purples - plum and lilac. Teal was another option as that looked really good next to the dress.

If your dress shop has bridesmaid dresses too try the dress on next to different colours of dress.

Discomoo I'm not getting married until 2020 but you've just hit upon the dress that I had in my head but couldn't find in real life! Thank you!
