To tan or not to tan?!?!

I'm getting married in September and wearing a strapless dress. I'm fairly pale and don't usually tan so thought I'd try a fake one out.

I had it done professionally and it was one where they exfoliate you and then manually apply it. I loved it yesterday but it seems to have developed a bit more overnight and now I can notice a few white patches around my wrist and knee. I just can't decide whether the colour looks natural.or not and my fiancee isn't that much help!!

Im wondering if it's worth all the hassle and worry about it looking wrong. Is it really so bad to be pale and natural?!

Just wondering if anybody has been in the same boat and what you decided in the end?

I didn't. It caused much consternation among some of my friends. But my reasons were: 1) I had a trial with the alleged best tanner in town, and ended up like I was suffering from a weird skin disease - I was all orange and blotchy. 2) I'm pale, it's who I am, it suits me and the rest of my colouring. 3) I don't think DH would have recognised me if I turned up at the altar looking brown

What I did do, was use one of the gradual tanning lotions a tiny bit on my arms and shoulders to avoid the bluish-White that I can look like over the winter.

I would recommend don't, it will more than likely rub off onto your wedding dress especially on the under arms.

Just be you and be happy. Your fiancé loves you for the way you look (amongst other things) so why change that on your special day? Just make sure your colour scheme compliments your skin and you'll be fine!

If it's not 'you' then don't bother. Fake tanning has been done to death, be pale and interesting

Ps I didn't use fake tan for my wedding either. No one seemed to mind a jot

If you don't normally fake tan, then don't for your wedding. I don't know why there's this expectation that people should - god knows how many times I was asked if I was going to get a spray tan (very pale, have never so much as touched a bottle of fake tan).

I agree, don't do it if you don't usually tan! The last thing you want is to look back at photos and think it doesn't look like you. I am very pale as I don't spend a lot of time in the sun- I'd tried fake tans before but didn't like smelling like a biscuit. I went "pale and interesting" for my wedding (also a strapless dress) and I'm still glad I did 4 years later.

I didn't because it's one of those things that will really age wedding photos.
