Hi,

Im looking for a bit of inspiration and so where better to come than mumsnet!!
I am planning my best friends hen do and there is a bit of spare cash in the pot so i am looking for things to spend it on. We are away for the weekend so i am goin to get champers or sparkling wine for the room on arrival and maybedo little party bags for all the girls but not sure what sort of things to put in them? We wont be going out clubbing just for dinner and drinks (we are of a more mature age!)

My friend has said about t-shirts but i find that they just arent worth the money so also looking for alternatives for these?

Any suggestions are widely accepted!

Thank you!

What about sash type things instead of tshirts?

In the goodie bags you could put, willy straws, badges, chocolates / mini bodyspray, bottle of water / headache pills (for the morning after)

You could buy a load of cheap t-shirts from matalan/primark/asda and a pack of iron-on printing paper from The Works or amazon or somewhere and make your own t shirts rather than buying expensive ones?

t-shirts are a stupid waste, even if you made your own. No one will wear them after the day.

Spend the money on paying some of the food/drink/ bills for the group, or give each person some money back if they all contributed but it is cheaper than you thought.

No one needs plastic tat.

Alternatively, a little nice present from paperchase or something for each person?

I agree with over.

Maybe as a keepsake you could hand paint a shot glass? Or buy a nice cocktail glass for everyone?

I agree with Over too, tee-shirts are a waste of money and it would be embarrassing wearing them, even on the night. I think one tasteful, maybe personalised gift each rather than a party bag would be nice, the cocktail glass idea is a nice one.

Sashes are nice and u can get them really cheap of eBay they look really good if every one wears a colour e.g. Black with them. If she has mentioned t shirts (I'm assuming she wants them?) then u really need to do something like that. Remember other to keeping the cost low its her night.
How about speaking to the restaurant and maybe arranging something special for there?
What about face masks or something for some pampering before u go out?
How about u and he other guests make a memory book for hen where everyone contributes 1/2 pages with photos of her and stories

There are all sorts of things you can personalise with a photo these days: fridge magnets, keyrings, pocket torches, mugs etc. If you (or any of the other member of the party) have an inkjet printer and some basic graphic design skills and a cracked copy of Quark or similar you can either pick a photo of you all, or make a composite out of snapshots of you all before the night, or buy in a lot of blank keyrings or whatever and stick in the photos of the actual party afterwards.

You can also get button badges made up with your own design/slogan on them and they don't cost too much. In fact, you can get quite nice enamel/brass pin badges made up to your own design for a fairly small amount of money and that's the sort of thing that will be kept and enjoyed longer than a t-shirt.

Have no idea on what to put in the giftbags but wanted to share a couple of.non- willy related games we did on the last hen I was on.

Build a Husband - photos of the grooms and other meb she knews bodyparts. She had to correctly guess all the parts and lay them out.

Mr and Mrs - ask the groom a series of questions before you go away. Quiz the bride on them, with a shot for wrong and a gift for right. Gifts included neglige, sunglasses and flip flops for honeymoon.

Celebrity Brides - thirty photos of celeb weddings, temas guess the bride and/or groom.in each one. Winning team gets a prize.

Personally, I would find the t-shirts mortifying, but I also find all of the willy / L-plate paraphernalia mortifying, so I may not be the best person to comment on this! We are doing gift bags for my sister's hen, in which we are putting snipes of champagne, painkillers, mini Benefit cosmetics and (at the insistence of one of the other bridesmaids) willy straws. It depends on how much cash is left in your pot, one thing that I wanted to get, but just can't stretch to, are personalised Nails Inc nail polishes. You can pick the colour, the cap, and a personalised sticker for the bottom of the bottle (I was thinking of just 'sister's name's Hen). They come in wee gift boxes that you can also choose stickers for, see here. Granted, I have a tendency to go OTT with such things, so these may be waaaay too much.
