Hard to tell really, the models are very good at the moment of showing a break down in two weeks and just shifting that along in time.

Ooooo were going camping in the last week of August in the south coast and I’m soooo desperate for it to be nice.

Can it please be a max of 24? Once it goes over that the pressures at work are seriously ramping up.

It looks a fair bit cooler from Wednesday but actually pleasant, temps in mid to low 20s.

The article contradicts itself!

I think they are getting it from the met office contingency forecast which effectively says that it is more likely to be warmer and drier than average for the next three months, than not.

There is a cool down coming, but I think heat may build again after a few days, at least in the south.

oh god, more heating building cries

I just don't know what to do any more. We have looked at holidays to Scotland but have to give notice to work of course and if the forecasts are wrong, we will have spent a fortune going on a holiday we don't want, just to escape boiling flat/boiling Tube/boiling office.

sorry for more questions but is a contingency forecast more like a worst case?

the lowest temp I can get anywhere in my life at the mo is 26 at night and it's horrific.

No, its generally not meant for the public (partly because they are actually really quite difficult to understand) They are for groups like local authorities and are intended to help with long term planning to mitigate for emergencies, managing grit levels and the like.

Lighthouse you really can't plan on contingency forecasts, they aren't designed for that because they aren't actually forecasts iyswim. It's also an emerging science and really not very exact at all.

@ginger, what's the weather like I'm lanzarote? Do I need a cardi for the evening?

Report
gingercat02 · 12/08/2018 17:14

Probably good to bring one @passthecake30 . It's lovely in the day with the Atlantic breeze takes the edge off the 30°c heat but has been cool some nights
