According to the BBC next week will be colder with a brisk wind in the South from cold air from Moscow

Great i love a bit of cold air,can finally justify putting the CH on

Be interesting to see if there right as they do seem to predict weather that dosent happen Grin

Kitten any thoughts ??

It does look like we will be drawing in polar continental air. (Don't you love the emotive language from the bbc). But tbh it's not going to be that cold - day time temps only dropping 4c or so from where we are now. Might feel a bit nippy on southern coasts due to it being quite breezy, but most areas look pretty settled.

Aghhh. I've not bought any winter boots yet. My old ones are knackered.

Thanks, OYBBK, slightly colder in Derbyshire today...DH succumbed and put on CH last night.
I am debating whether to purchase a winter coat for the dog.
Rush out, Meglet, and get those boots Grin

We've already had a pair of Robins feeding from our birdtable in our garden ~ normally they don't appear until November/December time and I've said to DH/DDs that I wonder if they know something we don't when it comes to the winter i.e. possibly a cold one?
For a bit of fun, TheWeatherOutlook have posted their thoughts on the coming winter/Christmas. They're going for cold and dry at the moment.

I don't think its been too cold...yet! We haven't had the heating on or lit the wood burner. we do have a Holly Tree that has tons of berries on it, never seen that many before, that's supposed to mean a cold winter? Grin

I think it just means its been a really good year for growing berries :)

It's still pretty warm in these parts (Yorks coast) - I went out without a coat on today so not bad! Still drying well on the line too!

Where i am in Jersey its alot cooler than normal for October. The girls are actually going to school with proper coats on as its 10oC in a morning here (thats cold for us).

New mini chips (3 weeks old) is confusing me as i have no idea how to dress him for this weather!!

A chilly 2.4C when we got up this morning but now got bright sunshine and it's 11.5C Was amazed at the amount of weeds we had at the allotment yesterday ~ I think after all the mizzling damp/rain this summer and then the sunshine/warmth of the last few weeks, they've had a growth spurt. Hopefully they'll have a rethink with the chillier weather this week!

SideOrder I wondered whether you'd had your little addition! Congratulations ~ mini chips is a lovely name! Grin

There's nothing better than a crisp cold Autumn day - I'm another one who isn't dismayed by a touch of frost. Give me a week or so and obviously I'll be wingeing about being too cold, though.

Netweather has a report here about the snow that's arrived in Poland and Moscow. And these guys have had a very early arrival at Slimbridge, from over Siberia way.
