US shutdown impacts on hurricane information

Went on to the NOAA page to look at the latest hurricane forecasts. Unforuntately (and quite critically for those who live there) the nOAA website has been taken down: NOAA
weather.gov the alternative site gives only the most basic information.

Anyway, to summarise theres a tropical storm (Karen) heading towards New Orleans. It might scrape to be a cat 1. storm but shouldnt be worse than that.

x-post Badger - it is. On that weather.gov site, if you click on the warning area you do get the barebones of info, but its only just enough for those who live there with no real discussion about potential evolution or other poential tropical storms.

Fortunately the Atlantic is very quiet with no storms of note at the moment.

Doesn't help those without pay, but at least the system isn't being tested.
