I know it's difficult to forecast longer-term but we are only a week away from Christmas Eve now! I saw a horrible mild spell coming on Wednesday that would totally wreck my yuletide buzz. Please say it will be fleeting and we'll wake up to at least frost on the 25th? Pretty please?

I've hidden a couple on my snow thread :)

Looks like it will be a Green Christmas for most - with a high pressure close (or perhaps over) the south of the UK. It does look generally mild. The only area with snow risk at the moment is the northern half of Scotland I think. The main question is - will it be dampish or dry? We shall see....

Slight word of warning, from tomorrow afternoon I may be without internet access for a few days Shock should be back towards the end of the week.

Looking more dampish I'm afraid. Looks like a Green Christmas for most still with the exception of northen Scotland where perhaps it could be a 'winter wonderland'.
Last forecast for a few days - def going to be without internet.

I think that perhaps next week you'll be one of the lucky ones (though a week in a life of a forecast is a long time!)

We're having a mixture of graupel and sleet at the moment and a few minutes ago, we had some good fat flakes of snow. I told the children to press their faces up to the windows and have a look outside, as it was probably the only sight of snow we'd get this winter Christmas!

Reindeer before you head off just want to say THANK YOU for all of your updates. You deserve an OBE for services to Mumsnetters.
Also, I love two things in life: dramatic weather and new words. And these threads have given me untold joy by combining the two in graupel and thundersnow
Merry Christmas everyone

Marking place for updates!

And pretty, pretty please could this thread mean Christmas in a broadish sense, as we've got quite a lot if travel plans (family only, so cancellable without penalty) in the days after 25th.

I'm guessing that it's not really possibe to look a full week ahead f Chrstmas, but I've just noticed these bC reports of severe weather warnings for snow, sleet and ice in parts of Scotland starting on Monday 19th.

At the moment it looks like Scotland might be cold/wintry but the rest of us a potentially mild Christmas. (I think)
