Well the met office didn't say anything about this!

When I went to bed at 10 the warnings on the met office didn't show anything for Wilts or the SW now I've just woken up and it's chucking it down.

Ive checked the met office again and the maps have gone orange for most of the SW including Wiltshire I've been waiting all week for this! No thundersnow but it's nice big fat chunky flakes and a snow day for the dc's is hopefully in the offing- off back to sleep in a mo ( but will leave blinds open to watch the snow infront of the 'Narnia' light outside our bedroom window) :) happy days!

I'm in Swindon Charlotte, it's on it's way I reckon, DH has work in Bristol in the morning and what we get you tend to get :)

Dueling - flash warning for us and the SW but only one splodge of yellow for S Wales ( very technical eh?) so I think (for the moment you might be ok) .

well the met office site seems to think it will miss us :( . Im desperate to take the kids sledging. Ds would love it. He has been watching the news and getting all excited about the sceens across the country. Hopefully I will wake up to enough for a little sledging fun! :)

Will keep everything crossed for you. If not then jump in the car and find a snowy hill perhaps? We did that at the weekend and drove from here to S Wales (sorry duelling) and the dc's had a lovely time.

Not showing any sign of stopping yet.

hopefully. We were going to do that with a friend who had a train pass the other day but it didnt happen.

Ds will be so excited if theres a blanket of snow in the morning. When it was snowing the other day he kept running to dd and taking her to the window to look. Grin

It's fine I think, there is enough for it to look pretty but not enough to cause any probs I think as the cars are all moving on the main roads near my house and my dc's school is still open much to their disappointment.

hi - I think the met office thought there would be some light snow, which they don't issue warnings for - how much did you end up with in the end?

It's still snowing. But it's not that deep I don't think oybbk - Maybe an inch or so?

The weird thing was when I went to bed I checked the met office site and wilts and the SW was green. When I woke up at 1 it had all gone orange and it was snowing quite heavily outside.

It's snowing lightly now - can you see if we are going to get much more today oybbk? The map is still orange and I'm a bit worried about getting my girls from school if it's going to suddenly get really heavy or something? They go to school in a village and I have to use country lanes to get there.

Forecast seems to completely change from hour to hour and between different sites (Metcheck and BBC are often completely different).

We're only 45 mins from you but no new snow at all here (Stroud)

Lovely, lovely, wise and foxy OYBBK. Please make my decisions for me.

I am still in Devon, between Barnstaple and Okehampton. It is still snowing lightly and some fell last night. No real thaw of the heavy fall last weekend.

BBC say wintry sleet and snow showers, heavy at times for tomorrow. Met Office aren't telling Xmas Grin. I have to travel a couple of hours very early on back roads down to near Plymouth and come back in the dark at 6ish. Looking at the BBC satellite-type pictures, there seems to be a lot of ominous blue/white coverage between there and here in the afternoon.

If I cancel, am I going to look like an eejit sitting in bright sunshine do you think or am I justifed in not wanting to do the journey twice in the dark with that forecast? I hould add that I'm not driving, I'm car-sharing so I'm responsible for dragging people off the main roads to get me and making us all take a much more rural route.

Well - we've just had some snow and the Met Office is still showing us as green

I think the snow risk is receding in the SW now. :) Sue, I think that if you are ok by mid afternoon, then probably you should be ok tomorrow.

lol at Foxy!

the met office don't issue warnings for light snow. Heres a key to when they do issue warnings - they use very strict criteria.

They reckon we should be having snow showers here now, it's pretty much constant though

We are in Dorset and woke up to a couple inches of snow, its been snowing on and off all morning but the sun keeps trying to come out, i think they give light snow showers for today but nothing much (but they said we wouldn't get much last night). Rain on its way at the weekend Sad.

Thanks OYBBK. It's travelling over Dartmoor which is a law unto itself a bit so I'm not sure what I'll do.
I wish it would snow more so I could make my mind up!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2010 12:57

I wouldnt really be able to help with Dartmoor. Are there any webcams up there that you can use to take a look for yourself?

Oooo, good idea. Do you not have a helicopter then? Selfish of you Xmas Grin
