What do you feed an 8 month old for lunch when they don't have any teeth?

I feed my 8 month old dts jars for dinner but now want to start them on a third meal. Neither of them have teeth so what solids can I feed them for lunch? Can they have sandwiches etc?

Anything, really. Their gums are really hard - think about it - they won't have all their molars for a while yet, and yet most (say) 1 year olds can eat pretty much anything.

Look at www.babyledweaning.com for ideas, but pretty much anything you're having (cut into holdable chunks, and with limited salt) will be fine.

My 9 month old eats anything. Sliced plums are a particular favourite as are toast finger with cream cheese

My dd just ate what we ate from the very beginning. First solids at 7 months, was sunday lunch. She got her first tooth over 5 months later.

Their gums are hard enough for them to chew.

I agree about the "anything" (within reason) comment. Babies' gums are hard as there are teeth behind them - plenty of force. I'm sure you've enjoyed having your finger gnawed at some point .

dd1 didn't get a tooth till 11 months. Gums of steel can chomp through most things

None of my 3 had any teeth till nearly a year (dd2 is 16mo and only has about 6),, however they were all happily eating anuthing that came their way. Just give them stuff and see how they get on with it!

Sandwiches are always a bit tricky for tiny ones, IMO there is no point in making a sandwich- just give them all the components on a plate- small pieces of bread, cheese, ham, cucumber, tomatoes...add some grapes, rice cakes, bread sticks, biscuit, banana and you have a nice fingerfood meal.

Same as you'd feed one with teeth. No teeth didn't limit dd on finger foods - fruit, veg, introduce gluten and dairy when you are comfortable (was 8-9m for me)

yep.., anything.

DD is 13mths and only just got her first teeth.

For lunch she happily chomps through sandwiches, cheese on toast, bagels, fruit bread etc
And hard chunks of fruit.ie Apple slices with ease.
