DD has no teeth yet, I'm struggling to give her meat If I do just puts it in her mouth, but it only able to pull off big bits, which she can't chew yet, are too big to swallow so she spits them out Is there anyway of giving meat to the toothless? I've resorted to purrees every so often to give her meat

you were right the first time with the big lumps as finger food.

or mince-in sauce (shepherd's pie, cottage pie, bolognese etc) is good

What I'm trying to get ideas of is is there anything chewable or that they are easily able to swallow as finger food? We've tried roast chicken, pork and lamb and she seems to struggle with all of it

oh I see

minced things are still easiest - so sausages, meatballs, burgers, koftas, homemade chicken nuggets
try and choose ones without too much crap in

DS used to chew strips of meat and spit out the gummed-to-death remnants. I think they get all the goodness from the juices anyway so I didn't worry His first tooth appeared the morning after he first had steak btw!

Oh and I give DS the walls "best bits" sausages, they aren't too rubbishy. I slice them diagonally like carrots. Or you could get some from a butcher/farm shop?

Thanks for the tips, we tend to eat good meat. I made meatballs at the beginning and was worried I burnt her mouth, but will try again.

Which probably brings me to another question, how hot can babies handle their food temperature wise? I've been cooling it down a lot, but then I feel sorry for her eating lukewarm food.

My DD is 13mths and still has no teeth. She too struggled with meat but now with practice manages it fine.

We found Mince dishes were good for her eating meat. Shepherds pie, Lasagne, chilli, bolognaise.

Still keep offering bits of meat (chicken is softest). She will get there I promise
It doesnt matter if she spits big bits out, shes trying it which is good.

Hi lobsters, I remember your meatball thread. Be brave and try her with them again, chances are she'll be fine this time.

I also cool down DD's food a lot, i try to get it to about body temperature and check temp by holiding it against my lip before giving it to her. She doesn't seem to mind lukewarm food at all, and gets quite excited when I start blowing on food, as she knows its heading her way
