Does it really not matter how much a 7mo eats?

DD2 is 7mo since she was about 5mo she had some purees which she loved, I mean really loved, my dd1 was never interested in food and it was such a contrast! Thing is I've read so much good stuff about BLW a couple of weeks ago I thought we'd swap over, get her eating our food etc.

It just seems like shes eating nothing compared to the purees I was feeding her!! She obviously enjoys trying the food herself and quite happily sucks away on anything I put on her tray but I'm not sure very much at all actually goes in!!

Please someone tell me its fine!

It's fine

98% of the food will end up on the floor - don't sweat it. Until one food is for fun only. She will start to get more in.

Remember her stomach is only the size of her fist. If you get really stressy you can weigh the meal and then weigh the sweepings from the floor and work out how much she's eaten - you might be surprised!

Well firstly remember that one stick of carrot, pureed, tends to look like more food than just the stick of carrot on its own. There is also more water in purees compared with whole solid foods, which can make them seem like more but since water does not have any calories is not going to help her put on weight anyway.

But conversely I think when you look at the mess on the floor it looks like more has been wasted - usually it is mashed a bit, chewed a bit, strewn into little bits, so it looks like more than it is!

DD ate very little (although she certainly enjoyed the process) until she was 10 months, then it was as though she suddenly got the hang of it and within the space of a couple of weeks was eating three or four times what she'd managed previously.

Now she's 15 months and tends to have seconds or thirds at nursery (she wasn't well at the start of the week, back at nursery yesterday and they told me at home time that she'd not been eating much -- turned out that meant she'd just cleared her plate and not come back for seconds...)
