6mo eating but refuses formula

Ds is 6mo and loves his food, baby rice and banana or mashed veg with a bot of rice to thicken.

He is teething atm (but has been since 4 months) he has his good and bad days with his teethand is costantly chewing his teething ring or anything hard.

in the last couple of days he has point blank refused formula to drink, this has made him very constipated. I managed to get 30mls of water into him yesterday so he managed a small hard poop. Today he still refused formula and only went for a sip of water.

I thought maybe his teeth were sore and he did not like sucking but tried giving him a small amount of cows milk just to see if this was it. he woofed it down and went for a few refills. I was very concerned he was getting to dehydrated so let him have what he wanted with the milk.

I know cows milk is not good for them as the main drink at this age but for today it was better than no drink at all.

all i can hope is that he goes back to formula soon (have been offering formula for every feed but no luck) anyone else experienced a formula strike?

Yes my son refused formula milk once he began to eat. By six months he was only on one bottle in morning and one before bedtime. The only thing I could get him to drink was diluted apple juice - 1 part organic apple juice to 3 parts water. He loved his bottles of formula but not if he was eating solids.

I ll be boo d away now but 2 of my three kids had cows milk from 6months ,were good eaters and we didnt have all the commercial prepared baby food s available now.the only child i gave some formula to developed eczema and asthma!!
if you want to get formula down a weetabix can soak up several ounces of fluid ( please dont tell me new guidelines say no Weetabix now)
All my kids have been healthy active kids despite havin cow milk from 6months as have many of my friends whom had kids in the 1990 s.
too much emphasis on all the commercial buys these daysi think .

i have been mixing formula with his cereal and he eats this ok. I just think for the next few days I am going to go with the flow, having adequate liquids is more important for a few days than having very little formula and no other liquid.

my ds was also a very good eater and pretty much started to refuse formula from 6mths. He had formula in his weetabix and a bedtime bottle and that was about it! He loved those fruit pots (pureed fruit in a pot) which probably gave him a bit of fluid and stopped him being constipated. The HV was never worried when I said he was refusing formula. He wouldn't drink out of a beaker so I offered water in a bottle and he would sometimes have a little.

He's now 3, perfectly healthy, still a great eater compared to most 3yo and still has a bottle of (cow's) milk at bedtime!
